This "service" is added automatically to each item bought until you deselect it.
When you order, opt for the Zen Engagement !

For one year after the purchase of your product, the Zen Engagement assures you that if your product malfunctions, we take it back and you choose from ALL 25 000 PIXmania.com to replace it !

This service allows you to :

    > recover 100% of the purchase value you paid for your product
    > receive the reimbursement in the form of a voucher that is valid for 12 months
    > use the voucher to buy any product on Pixmania.co.uk
    > All these advantages are available to you from 5,9% of the price of your product including tax.

Yet there is a 1-2 year manufacturers warranty on all products. Is there any logic in adding this to ones order? Can a faulty item not be returned to the seller within a reasonable amount of time in exchange for a replacement or refund?

I've bought a few things from Pixmania (great value prices compared to shops here) but I never took this option.

You're right that the warranty covers you against faulty goods, but in most cases, unless the product was faulty on arrival or very soon after, the supplier would be entitled to offer a repair and would only have to replace/refund if repair was impossible or uneconomic. I had a fault on a Canon digital camera I bought from Pixmania and the warranty repair was done by Canon Ireland promptly enough, but I was still without the camera for a month or six weeks.

I suppose the big advantage of the "Zen Engagement" (who thought up the daft name anyway?) is that you will immediately get a refund if your purchase develops a fault. You have to spend your refund with Pixmania though, it's not cash . . .

Just spotted this on some stuff I bought yesterday...it's not immeadiately apparent how to opt out of the system either and when you do find the means to do it, it has to be done on each item individually.
Seems like bad form on pixmania's part to make it difficult for a buyer to opt out of this extended warranty...
