    hey,

soz if this is a boring thread, but im moving to dublin and i need help. im planning on living near stephens green or ranelagh/rathmines, but i have a new job, near the phoenix park.

wat i am after, is suggestions for the quickest way of getting to work?

    would you

    (1) walk to o connell street and get luas to heuston and then walk again
    (2) get a bus? if so, could you give some suggestions and post how long it would take.

the walk from the green to abbey street would be about 10-12 minutes with traffic and all and then wait for a luas and then 10 minutes walk again.

any buses be faster that that?
sorry for being a pest, but i really dont know dublin at all.
    cheers

Cycling could be the best option as its not that far.

It would very much depend on where your work is, the Phoenix Park is very large.

Or get the 92 from the green to Heuston and walk to the park...

As Johnr said it depends on where exactly you're working. A good number of buses pass the main entrance to the park.

If you’re not used to Dublin’s public transport, I’d recommend getting weekly or monthly bus tickets. Or a Bus/Luas ticket if you plain to use the Luas a bit on any of the lines.

The no 10 bus serves the St Stephen's Green area as well.

the 10 stops on Stephen's Green North so no need to walk to O'Connell Street. Only question is if the 10 is anywhere near the OPs destination.

The 92 is a much more direct route to that area of the park though.

You can use the DTO Journey Planner to get a route suggestion, and estimated travel time for walking or slow cycling. You can use Dublin Zoo or Aras an Uachtarain as destinations to approximate your actual destination. For example. Aras to Lower Rathmines Road is 6.6km, with estimated cycling time of 33mins.

Alternately, when you know a route, you can use Gmaps Pedometer to determine the distance. Simply double click points along the route to see the distance.
