Hi, I've had an Iriver H120 for the past couple of years or so and I think I need to update to a new MP3 player!! The thing is......I want to get an IPod for crimbo (I think!!) and I just have a couple of quick question,

This whole I-tunes thing......is it annoyingly hard to set up or use?

I've heard that u have to convert all the music files to some other format to put them on the IPod (All my music files are either MP3's or WMA's)......how do u do this?? Is it hard to do?

When the files are coverted to watever format theyre converted to, does it permanently convert them to that format, i.e. are the music files in my 'My Music' folder still gonna be MP3's and WMA's??

    Thanks for ur help!!

iTunes doesn't seem that hard to use though having never owned or used an iPod I can't say for sure. Only used it once or twice to help mates with iPod problems.

You might be ok with regards the music format thing. A quick look at the iPod specs show this:

Audio formats supported: AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF and WAV.

If you were to convert your music then unless you kept both formats, you would lose your original.

MP3's will go straight onto the iPod with no conversion.
WMA's will be automagically converted by iTunes before being added to the iPod.

You should change the defaults import (ie. ripping) format to MP3.

I suggest tinkering with iTunes, it is pretty easy to pick up.
