I don't know of any services where you can meet other people travelling on their own, but don't be a bit afraid to travel on your own. I've been all over the world on my own, NYC, Poland, Thailand, Malaysia, most of Europe, and it's actually nice to be able to spend 30 mins taking the perfect photo without anyone complaining, etc :-)

It's not weird, and it's not depressing. I've met interesting people, and am still in touch with them.

Having said that, I travel with herself these days, and that's great too!

Yeah, forgot to mention that, lol.

I'm 18, never been on a holiday that wasn't with family, and I'm goin on my first one in style! So you're not the only one doin it :)

I was supposed to be going on my own, but one of my mates decided he wants to go too, so he'll be there for bout 6 weeks and I'll be solo for the rest.

I understand that solo travel is quite normal, especially among Americans and Aussies. It's seems to warrant a "gasp" in Ireland every time the notion of travelling alone is mentioned. hmmm.

So yeah, scary! I'm doin well in my saving, have around 900 now, and will be lodging 600 on Friday. And then have around 24 weeks before I'm goin, loadsa time!

I remember people talking about www.thepattclub.ie. Hope that link is the right one. It's ''people alone travelling together''. It might help you although I can't remember whether it's ppl meeting up while travelling or just going on hols together.
    Good luck :)
