Solo vs Group

I was kinda just thinking and wondering if people generally prefer to play solo or in a group? I plays as a mage (currently at lvl 20), I normally play in a small group, usually I just play with my boyfriend (lvl 20 priest) as a duo but sometimes we have one or two friends with us (normally a lvl 21 hunter and a lvl 19 warlock), adn at times I play with just one or two other people.

I find it quite ok to play with just my boyfriend as we do this sitting beside eachother and can communicate the whole time which makes playing together quite easy (although I am not quite sure that he's impressed when I'm screaming directions at him... :D).

However in the larger group, while it's good cause we're all around the same level and do the same quests together, or just when I play with someone not in the room, I find that I don't really enjoy it. It happens far too often that people don't concentrate on what the others do and you end up having too many mobs to fight off cause everyone is attacking different targets!

I really do enjoy playing alone the most though. It's great at times to have someone else for the mob to hit on while you stay back when you're a mage, but when I play alone I level up so mch faster, both because it simply is faster to play alone (no conflicting interests and no waiting for anyone else), and because you get all that XP for killing the hard mobs yourself! :D Oh, and it's a nice feeling when you finish a quest all by yourself... hehe.

Anyway, I guess I was just looking for thoughts and tips on this from other players? Anyone else that has a preference?

I prefer solo. On occasion I'll hook up with one of my friends, or my younger brother, but they're playing from a different time zone so we rarely are on at the same time. So I tend to go it alone!

its all down to need, if you need a group to complete a quest then group. if not then dont.

myself (lock) and the missus (mage) often quest in the same area but dont group up, that means we kill the same mobs, get the same xp but have the added comfort of somebody nearby if a bad pull is made.

I play with a group of 7 friends and we're all on vent when ever we're on the computer. It's a hell of a lot quicker to level in my opinion in a group questing. I've leveled as a holy speced priest and I'm currently half way to level 57, and I've also leveled tailoring and herbalism up to 300. I have all of the mats for the truefaith vestments too.

Two of the group of people I level with have fallen behind (about 8 levels or so) so while we were waiting for a while for them to catch up we were sitting around doing nothing, which means we could have gone faster. We do everything as a group and because we have vent and have so much experience as a group we work very well together. Three of us at level 53 could take down a level 60 elite mob, the earliest level 60 pvp kill I remember us getting in a group of three was level 28. Recently, we cleared through every single quest in eastern and western plaguelands in one night at level 54. We'll all probably be level 60 by next Friday if not before hand.

Working as a group is definatly better depending on the group. Our group is way above average and well balanced (holy priest, fire mage, feral druid, combat sword rogue and lower level hunter and a warrior), so we can do instances two or three levels before the reccomendations for that instance. Pick up groups on the other hand are useless. If I'm ever in a pug, I always go in with the expectation that the pug will fail or that I will be let down by one of the members of the pug at some stage.

Soloing stuff is just boring imo. It's also a pain in the arse when you get out numbered by the opposite faction, where as with two or three of your buddies, you'd probably have wiped the floor with them.

Currently aoe grinding as my pally (Holy) with a mage in Western Plaguelands atm, and its bloody fast. Can easily pull 6 or 7 enemies and keep the mage on near full health. Also nice to have a good few moves to finish the undead off. Levelling my Pally was woefully slow before that, so i like grouping.

As my Warlock, i generally preferred to solo. Especially once i reached 60, grinding various elites gave me more money then usual. Chain-fear ftw!!

So it depends on the class, thats why i didnt vote.

I prefer to quest and so on solo but, that's easier as a rogue.

But of course instance runs and teaming up for pvp are great craic too. But normally I only quest in a group when I have to.

I prefer small groups. I've a retri-specced paladin (9/11/31, about to respec healbot 31/0/20) and solo grinding outside of undead/demon areas (WPL/EPL, Felwood satyrs etc) is so painfully slow - it's real nice to be grouped with a DPS class! It's also much more fun to be grouped with your friends :)

Well me being a priest i prefer to group, as if i pull more than one yellow mob and half my mana is gone im in for a frustrating time and will probably have to do a runner which i hate doing.

But group me up with one other class and we chomp through the mobs, i also really enjoy instances. Alot more fun with the drops and quest events, was in a group in ZF last night where ya have to free 5 npc's from a cage at the top of a big stair well. Once ya free them about 50 mobs run up the stairs charging your party, that was really fun. God bless the mages AOE's and my shield and heals ;)

Can't believe you're about to respec Holy Kirby when, with tomorrow's patch, you could very easily grind the full epic PvP set and a nice GM Claymore :)

Currently specced 20/0/31 and going for the full 10/0/41 after tomorrow because Crusader Strike is just too much fun :D

I've actually been contemplating a respec for a long time, I specced retri for levelling and the PvP grind (made it to rank 9 before college started kicking my ass!) but holy is slightly more suited to my play style because I play my paladin very much as a healer.
For levelling in TBC though, I'm going to fill the retri tree back out for a 31/0/30 build at 70. Holy talents after Holy Shock kinda suck.
And trust me, there *will* be a GM Claymore at some stage. I need the 1H healing mace first though because I need a lot more +healing.

Bubblehearthing is for nubs. A true paladin stands and fights. And pops all her cooldowns to make sure she lives.
