For some reason i find setting up Thunderbird to connect to our company's eircom.net account a total pain.
After inputting all the account info and using mail1.eircom.net for both incoming and outgoing, i was originally getting a message that mail1.eircom.net is refusing connections.
After messing around with the server options in Thunderbird, it finally started working out of the blue.
However now when i copy all these settings and try to setup the very same mail account on another pc, it's back to refusing connections again.
Is it just mail1.eircom.net that is flakey or what?

    mail1 is fine.
you can use it for incoming andd outgoing mail if you connect thru eircom.
if you dont connect thru eircom you cant use it for outgoing
