Karaoke CDG Files - what are they?

    Hi Guys,

    Karaoke is a new venture for me and my PC.

    Trying to figure out file types and whats what.

    Can anyone explain the various file types involved and any software required to make back-ups, and is it a cd project or a dvd project - I would like to run them from karaoke player thru tv (cheapy).

    CDG sounds like the old CD+G format for CD's.

    The +G means graphics. They used to slip graphics data onto a normal CD. When played on a standard Audio CD player it played the normal audio, but when placed into a device capable of reading it, they displayed graphics. My old Sega Genesis (Megadrive) can still play my CD+G discs (all four of them!).

    Ah the memories.
