Camcorder Advice...

    Hi !

I'm looking to buy my father a camcorder for Xmas and knowing that he wants one that has a hard drive it leaves my options a little limited.
It seems that it's really only Sony and JVC that offer such models and the starting price is about €400 for the JVC and €500 for the Sony.

My question is how important is the value for megapixels for each model?

All the cheaper models start out with 0.8Mb, and it goes up to about 3Mb for twice the money. But I don't know how good the image quality at 0.8Mb really is and what is the minimum I should be aiming for.

    Can anyone help?
