    Hi,

I have the opportunity this week to have someone buy me a Wii in the US and bring it back here.

I've been trying to read up on the region encoding stuff but I'm getting lost; my question is will the console I buy today in the US work fine with any games I buy here in Ireland going forward?

What are the issues I'll face with using a US Wii here in Ireland?

us is region 1 while europe is region 2 - the same idea as dvds - a us machine will work with region1 games only - that means that if you have a us machine, you will have to buy us games to get them to work - so no crossover - there are places that will 'chip' machines - i.e they put in a microchip into machines that will allow them to work with all region games - like a multirgion dvd player - but i wouldnt bother with this unless your a hardcore gaming nut

Bugger. The saving in money is fairly significant if I buy it over there.
