Mate of mine up the north had a call from Game the other day about his preorder. They offered him £250 for wii with wii sports, wii play (inc extra controller), and anohter game, which is about €371.

Now, this is the UK Game, so not sure if its the same down here. Also he accepted the offer straight away cause its what he planned on getting anyway, not so sure if they're forcing them on people or just offering, or if theres any alternative bundles.

does anyone remember how several shops tried to (and succeeded in) forcing customers to buy a certain amount of games with their console during the 360 launch? - i strongle urge anyone who faces a situation where a shop is trying to force other items on you to refuse and insist that you only purchase what you want - if game or virgin, for example (both guilty of this last time) try this, IT IS ILLEGAL - and tell them in no uncertain terms while remaining calm and polite, that you refuse to be bullied into this and you are entitled to buy just tje items you want or have preordered - if smyths have games , controllers etc at a cheaper price then buy from whoever you want

I'm extemely angry with how Game have treated my pre-order. I paid my 20 euro back in October and was promised several times that I would definitely have a console on launch day. They also said they'd call me in November to arrange whatever games I wanted. Well, they never got back to me so I went in to the shop about two weeks ago. Again they told me not to worry, and promised me that I'd have a console at launch. They said they'd send me an info pack, but they never did. So I phoned them yesterday and they told me that I probably wouldn't get a console at launch. To make matters worse, they said they weren't giving out the consoles according to the date of the pre-order, which seems a bit dodgy to me. They said there would be two batches of Wiis given out, and that if I was lucky I'd be in the second batch and may, just may, get it in time for Christmas. They said they'd call me tomorrow or the day after to let me know which batch I'll be included in, but if they don't call me, I should call them. They sound completely incompetent. I can't imagine what way they're processing these pre-orders if not by date: is it by hair colour perhaps? Absolutely incredible. I'd love to order elsewhere at this point, but I doubt I'll get a console at this late stage.

if you have an xtravision locally you could always try your luck, and maybe pay up front...that should guarentee it for you, here in Denmark there's a chain of stores called Merlin and they've only just now advertised the fact that they'll have them, and have something like 30 preorders only across their entire chain so far, they wont let you pre order without paying the full whack upfront but it totally guarentees you a console at launch, maybe try the same tactic there?

What Game did you preorder at?

I preordered in Liffey Valley and the receipt has the number of your preorder on it ,mine is 1003 the third one they took.

I asked one day last week and they said it would by preorder number but they would only hold them for the day and then go through the higher numbers and ring them to offer uncollected ones to them .

He also said they would be ringing on Thursday to find out what games i wanted to get with the console.

I pre-ordered in Game Henry Street. Tbh, I think they've made a mess of things at that branch. The first time I went in they couldn't even find their copy of my pre-order. And the guy yesterday said that they had several order books to process, so they wouldn't be going by receipt number. My receipt is number 60, so it could go either way, but they did promise me I'd have it at launch. It sounds like other branches are more on top of things.

How exactly is it illegal? I mean what law should we quote if the stores insist that it is not?

Just checked mine got Game in the Square, it was 29/9/06 and the "serial number" / Preorder number is 1012, so I'm number 12 right?

Yep, you are number 12 in their queue.

were is this number on the receipt?
i see 0050 up at the top left
but theres no way im the 50th to preorder it at Game in limerick i pre ordered it at the very start of october

plus can someone please tell me if i just get zelda and the wii would that be in or around €300 because thats all i got

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

If you look between where it says "DEPOSITWIIHW+S" and the "Total To Pay" it should say "Serial Number : 1012" (in my case, yours should be whatever number your pre-order is.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 120 ✭✭Luluk

My serial number says 0060. I don't know whether than means I'm one of the first or the last. I suppose it depends on which book they recorded your order in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,180 ✭✭✭1huge1

ya Damo i seem to have gotten a totally different receipt as you
but it looks like i got the same one as Luluk ^^ as mine says 0050 at the top left
(theres no mention of a serial number on it at all)

You're going to have to bum €10 or €20 off someone.
I doubt we will be getting Zelda for €50.I may be wrong but I seriously doubt it.

We still havent been given any details about pricing of the Wii, though we are getting a delivery from Nintendo tomorrow so more might be revealed then...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,180 ✭✭✭1huge1

ah wont break the bank but considering the power of this console compared to the others it should be a fair bit cheaper
thats why i dont want to fell like im getting ripped (but i guess thats the shops fault not nintendo)
thanks ace and welcome to boards

    Thanks man,
    I don't know why I didn't join here sooner.
I didn't know there were this many gamers on here that actually know what they're talking about, and from Ireland!!!
    Now that's a rare find:D

COD3 for the Wii is 60 euro, and in stock now. So weird considering the consoles release date is a week later :pß
So I reckons Zelda will be 60 too.

    ^^ that sucks
unless the wii is def €250 im gonna have to borrow some money

When I worked in Game during previous console releases, preorders were filled on a first come first served basis and number didnt necessarily count. You could have been number 50 in the queue and arrived in in the morning of release and picked it up. Thats what I was planning to do in dundrum on friday (took the day off for it).

Also, my preorder receipt has gone walkies! :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

Your details are still in the preorder book, so as long as you bring your reward card you'll be ok.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Q_Ball

I know the number off by heart......

    *yes, i'm weird like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 731 ✭✭✭jimbob_jones

I rang Game on Henry Street and they are awaiting the confirmation of their stock before they start ringing the people who have pre-ordered

    fingers crossed anyways :(

Think I was the one right in front of you mate !
Seem to remember though the fella said that doesn't mean thats the order your in, seemed strange (think he said I was the first one to put down a deposit in Liffey Valley).
Considering Game are sometimes slow with their info, I doubt they could forsee stock levels at that point.
Having said that, haven't heard anything from them yet

Bundle I like in Argos, 295 Wii+Zelda. Exactly what I want. Plus I have a 40€ voucher for game for something else. KEWEL!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 978 ✭✭✭AceCard Jones

    Game + foresight = nope.
I would say everyones best bet would be to just head to where they booked it provided they didn't get a call saying otherwise, and just hope for the best.
And you know show your deposit to the staff with your thumb over your number just incase.:D

I prebooked in GAME at the end of sept., I was 71 in the queue and was rang today to say I'll be getting a console. I wouldn't mind some confirmation on the price of the thing itself though! I've seen it advertised in HMV for 270 (I think?) but some of you are saying GAME and argos are selling it for 250?

I should have, but forgot. I'll probably drop in on my way home. I presume that by them asking if I wanted any games or accessories that I could just say "no" and just get the console.

They could be sussing out demand for maximum shaftage on bundles :).
