I'm looking to buy a PC (inc. monitor) off komplett after Xmas. My budget is about €2000. It'll be used for the latest games and music. Can anyone recommend a good and upgradable spec to me? Cheers.

I love doing this :D for some reason, even though what I have is grand for what I need.

    So, for €2000...hmmm - here's my suggestions:

    Case: Something biggish, this perhaps.

PSU: At least 500W for gaming on reccommendation.

Motherboard: Something with SLi if you want the option of upgrading to two GFX cards, or buying two straight off (2x7950GTX will be over half your budget though).

GFX: I'd say a single Nv 7950GTX or ATi X1900/1950XTX. With the option of upgrading to two as above.

Processor: Depends on mobo - Intel or AMD is a fine line these days, personally im nearly inclined to switch to intel as the new Core2Duo's sem very impressive. E6600 or better for your budget.

Memory AT least 2GB. You shouldn't need more but any less wil reduce the performance and loading times will be much higher.

HDD 300GB Min, you'll use it, believe me.

Double DVD burners are cheap and handy.

And with the spare change buy yourself a nice 19'' Monitor and a speaker system :D.

EDIT: spent some time messing on Komplett, came up with this:
    AKASA Powersupply ATX/EPS 12V 550W
    Creative SB X-Fi Gamer,
    ABIT AW8D, I975X, Socket-775, SATAII,
Norman IC, 1 year license Virus Control
    PC box
    SoftThinks Installation/Recovery
    Gainward GeForce 7950GT 256MB,1,2ns DDR3
    Gigabyte GZ-X1 Silver, 4X 5,25",
    Crucial DDR2 Tenth Anniversary PC5300,
    Samsung SpinPoint P120S 250GB SATA2
    Samsung 19" LCD Syncmaster 920N TCO-99
    Belkin PCI 54Mbps Wireless 802.11g
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Socket
NEC DVD±recorder AD-5170 IDE Silver OEM
    Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2b
    Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB SATA2
    Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3000,
NEC DVD±recorder AD-5170 IDE Silver OEM
    Belkin PCI Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

€2026 only thing not included is speakers. :D

well going on komplett id say..

    For the psu..maybe a OCZ 520w

you should definetly go core2duo..A E6600 core2Duo processor you wont need any model above or below that..

For the graphics..you should get a 8800gts or even better if it can fit in your budget a 8800gtx..as far as i know the 7950gx2 is disapearing from komplett so i think they will stop being sold pretty soon..

Any 2gb of ram will do..either 5300 or 6400 speed will do..ocz platnum or corsair maybe

250gb -320gb hdd either samsung or western digital..

Core 2 Duo 6600, 2GBs of RAM, 10,000 rpm Raptor for OS and games, 750GB HD for eerything else, and if you get a case big enough, a GeForce 8800 of some kind.

    AKASA Powersupply ATX/EPS 12V 550W

    What's the advantage of this?
    ABIT AW8D, I975X, Socket-775, SATAII

    And this?
    Belkin PCI Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

    Do I really need this?

Also do I really need to buy a soundcard if I buy a motherboard with 5.1 sound?

You need at least that wattage for a gaming PC - more if you go for ver high-end graphics.
    ABIT AW8D, I975X, Socket-775, SATAII

Socket 775 is the processor socket, needed for a Core2Duo processor.
    Belkin PCI Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Allows you to plug an ethernet LAN connection into your computer. Presuming you have broadband, this is cheap, cheerful and I'd consider it essential even if you have wireless in case this fails or you bring it somewhere without wireless access.

Nope, but sound quality will be better and more versatile - a lot more config options than with basic onboard sound. I think Komplett have a cheaper card that's more basic around the €29 mark, you could get that separetely and throw it in. (Dunno what komplett's policy on opening the case after purchase is...?)

You will need the first and second, As thats the power supply, and motherboard. The third is not needed at all. As you have dual ethernet on the motherboard.

Im guessing you have a keyboard/mouse/speakers now so i wont bother adding them.

Antec Performance One P180 Miditower, Silver Aluminum (Without PSU) = 138
    Corsair Powersupply 520W Black = 122
    ABIT AW9D, I975X, Socket-775 = 205
    Samsung SpinPoint P120S 250GB SATA2 8MB 7200RPM x2 = 160
    OCZ Gold PC6400 DDR2 2048MB Dual Pack = 309
    POINT OF VIEW GeForce 7950GT 512MB = 304
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz = 330
    LG 20" LCD L204WT TCO-03 Black/Silver 1680x1050, 5ms = 339
    Windows XP sp2 = 89

    Total: 2,009.05

You could obviously bring this price down by about 400 euros by going for a worse graphics card. worse ram, a smaller monitor.

But for 9 euros over your budget this will be a awesome pc.

Don't forget optical drives. €38 for a grand NEC model, you may want 2 of these, or make the second one just a DVD-ROM, not a DVD RW - you can go up to €60 each depending on how fast you need youe DVDs burned:D
