Was nice to see a few of them flashbacks that hadn't been shown. Brings up a few interesting situations. Dissappointed when ended though. Wonder what helo & , ammm, apollo's mrs's will be thinkin now. Nice to see the admarial gettin up with the cheif, sorta killed the mood though :(

Surely you mean Anders and Dee?

Very good episode. Different. We now know why Apollo put on all the weight. The depressed ****er!

    Good ep.

That was a kick in the balls for Lee back on New Caprica - poor form, Kara :/

Gotta laugh when Eddie Olmos grinned then his (real) son, Hot Dog, hit the deck :p

Plus looked like back on New Caprica, that Le Prez and the Admiral were smoking something that wasn't exactly standard-issue :p

I was trying to figure out if that was a cigar but he was smoking it like a joint. Hippies! They got proper grogged up on that hooch too.

Looks like the Prez and Adama had a bit of a thing going too although we didn't see anything specific...

The ol' irish-esque music was a nice touch for the dance.

Really good episode, filled in a lot of the blanks that were unanswered in that huge 18 month gap. Very unusual episode too, some pretty good fights too, the admiral hit the cheif a hell of a puck to open up their fight :)

I already posted a reply but .....ehhhhh.... it went wrong. Sorry if it appears twice.

+1 on the smoking a doobie thing. I noticed he didn't pass it to El Prez. Maybe she was already toked out.

In my mind, Adama and El Prez definitely scored.

Is there any explanation for what Starbuck did ? Or is she just nuts?

Overall a bit of a filler ep IMHO but it could have been worse.

It was defintely cool to see an insight into the last few months. New Caprica wasnt such a bad place before the Cylons.

I'd wager Laura and Adoma got it ooon... I like how their positions mean that they have to kinda hide how they feel.

Kara is a freakin loon tbh. Wtf was she playing at. I love yous here and there, and a wedding or two.

Poor Lee Adamas wife... just getting swept up in it, esp after she lost her real love earlier in the episodes... :(

Overall, the episode showed a lot and the fighting was good but wasnt the best thing ever!!

Were we the only ones who thought this was utter crap? Easily the worst episode of the show yet - we were waiting for it to end throughout.
The fight scens as a means of relieving tension? Too forced and too damned boring.
The New Caprica scenes added precious little to anything other than shoe-horning in a Adama/Starbuck love element that we didn't need.

One I don't ever need to see again.

Ixoy, it certainly wasn't great. I think the only reason I found it fairly acceptable is that my expectations were very low. I mean: boxing, flashbacks=zzzzzz.
But IMHO it turned out to be not as cliched as it could have been.

    QFT.

More Lee/Starbuck drama that just wasnt needed and was the first BSG Iv ever fast forwarded. Rool on next week and a more promising looking episode.

I really dont like the Lee Adama story line, nor the Lee/Kara one. It'd be better if Kara just murdered Lee and stayed with her husband/f|_|ck buddy.

Are you two people????????????????

Other than that I agree with all you say. I didn't mind what they told us, but the way they went about it didn't work. And the use of the same shot's over and over and over again. Dull. My husband fell asleep before it ended.

I can't believe they brought Duck back just to have him standing there grinning in one scene. And am I the only one that giggles everytime I think of the couple Dee&Lee Adama.

    Strange episode.
Was very mundane for the first 30 minutes but then picked up nicely for the last 10 minutes.
    I missed Baltar's musings and ravings .

Definitely a filler episode, saving the cash.

Still loved it though. It was obvious we'd get a couple of these after the special effects heavy opening episodes, nice to see something new and thoughtful instead of it being just cheap.

    Very funny episode too.

    8/10

Personally, i really liked it. Don't ask me why, usually any sort of relationship stuff bores me to tears. but there is something about the lee/anders/kara/dualla thing that catches my interest.

As far as filler goes, it could be a thousand times worse. Also, what the frak was adama smoking? My guess is he wouldn't have passed a medical after that ;)

Filler episode but good character development and some good background stories that explain Lee's frame of mind.

Too much boxing for my liking. The Adama Vs Chief fight didn't have to happen at all. They should have combined the story with something from the cylon side.

i liked it, definitely a filler episode and adds nothing to the progression of the overall storyline, but as far as filler eps go, i really enjoyed this one

some great fights and it was good to find out why lee had an attitude towards kara, and you can't blame him, that was really low of kara, she's just fraked up

a filler but a decent one. Good development of some of the main characters background stories while on new caprica. Thought the mixed sex boxing was interesting.

I agree with what a few have said, pointless filler but a good episode all the same. While I appreciated Adama's point I thought he made it out of the blue and made him seem a bit of a looper tbh. One minute he is enjoying the fighting and relaxing, the next he is off on a moral mission to make some point. Is he ever able to make a point simply, or does everything require a dramatic gesture?

I can see a few lads at the back of the crowd saying "here goes this melodromatic plonker again". As soon as he stepped in I'm sure everyone in the room knew some moral pontificating would soon follow, the gasps of surprise were surely put on to make him feel better.

The constant back and forth of the Starbuck/Apollo relationship is getting a little tiring now too. Either just let them marry or have one beat the other to death. It is getting a bit silly.

Still though, I enjoyed the ep

I agree with you there. I usually enjoy Adama's speeches but this one was definitely the low point of the episode. It felt like they just couldn't think of anything else for Eddie Olmos to do. Having him actually win the fight wouldn't be believable, so give him a few words to say and sure that'll do.

This is the first time I've thought "oh no, not again!" when he started yapping.

Think this ep shows that BSG have great confidence in their viewers. I loved it again felt it filled in some gaps I mean if you look at most filler eps they contribute nothing but i felt this added a bit more.

Really felt for Tigh having to endure the fighting while he is so cut up bout the wife.

Loved the admirals opening punch & they laura angle.

10/10 for a filler ep taken as just that with extras

Thought the episode was a bit subpar myself and not in the league of what we've come to expect from BSG. (Then again the standard is pretty high.)

Didn't buy into the whole boxing as catharsis device and when my interest was piqued it was towards the end when at least the Lee/Kara spat was resolved and the reasons for their mutual animosity revealed. I did like the revisiting of New Caprica pre-occupation, especially that it did seem to hold some form of hope for the Colonists, although Roslin does ominously refer to the place as a "break" from being on the run.

Next week's episode is written by Jane Espenson of Buffy/Angel/Firefly fame so we should expect something much better.

It wasn't so bad. Missed the Cylon side of things and Baltar, but for blatantly obvious filler material, it was enjoyable enough, certainly better then last seasons 'scar' which I thought was the weakest filler episode I've seen to date. Some great fights in there too, very well done.

I'm in two minds as to whether this episode was good or bad. The bits on New Caprica showing what had happened between Apollo and Starbuck were needed. It also explained Apollo's depression and weight gain. But I feel all of this could have been done in about 10 minutes. Obviously this was a 'keeping costs down' episode, but they could have mixed in some Cylon stuff to keep the interest up. I didn't get the whole boxing thing at all and I mostly ignored it.

You really feel the lack of Baltar in this one. It'll be about the first missable episode of BSG in my opinion.

Loved Baltar's few scenes on New Caprica though. Really liked all the scenes on New Caprica actually.

Thought it was a nice, refreshing, look back at happier times.

(I've never seen a BSG poll so devided before!)

...oh, and Adama and Roslin were definitely smoking the wacky-backy. "You say this stuff grows around here?". Stoned of their box tbh.

I thought it was a good episode, character development is needed, it can't always be about blowing basestars up!

I feel sorry for Kara, she's scared of committing to a relationship where she won't be in control (with Lee), when she's with Anders she's always in control- she asked him to marry her, he's the one begging her to come back etc.

Adama and Laura are the ultimate power couple, and they were most definately passing that 'cigar' to each other!

Can't wait for next week, I think a good cliffhanger is needed soon...

Every so often they have to give us an episode that is kinda off, however having said that I liked how they filled us in on little things here and there. Feel bad for the other halves though!

good character story, but again Adama at the end with the unnecessary speech put my in mind of Bruce Boxinleter (from B5) "My father once told me" speech per episode :D

I liked the story being filled in and it was needed to balance out the action of earlier episodes. But it wont be one I'll be digging out to watch again any time soon...

I didn't think it was that bad at all. i was not waiting for it to end but i was not a huge fan of the boxing scene reminded me too much of the episode of voyager when chacktoy is having those visions and he is in a boxing ring fighting aliens or something like that, - worst episode of voyager ever

This BSG was better because i actually feel for the characters and care about what happens to them, the only other show to pull that off was DS9 but i love BSG and the chars so much more than DS9
