    Hello All,

As I'm sure you are aware I work for PokerEvents and we run a freeroll for most our tournaments. But last night I was told that we were wasting our time and money running them?

What is the general consensus out there?

    Regards

    Stephen

probably plus your going to get a negative response here because these are mainly winny players who would never play freerolls

But they are good for attracting new customers!!

    Hi Sephen,

my 2 cents is, a freeroll seems like you are wasting your time and money but I do see an obvious plus side..ie you attract the undecided to your venue who upon getting knocked out may not waste the trip by going home and so play your tournament. I think though to make it a little more profitable for you, that you allow each player 1 rebuy, so you have the attraction of a freeroll with the added benefit to yourself to cover the tourny entry. These are generally crapshoots anyway but for 15 quid or so rebuy I think it's not a real dent in anyones finances. pre tourny sit n gos do add a little lighthearted entertainment to events with slaggin etc so Id encourage them.
good luck and see you in the new year .

Is it true that most of you would not consider playing the Freeroll even though it worth €100 to you?

I thought most of you would be jumping at the chance to play. Free entry into the main tournament which you would be playing anyway!

freerolls are great crack. just cuz your better than most of the people in it doesn't mean you can't have a laugh playing. if ur AA gets cracked by 72 you didn't lose a penny so I say keep them up.

And definitely great for attracting new fishes for all ye sharks.

After all... fish supply the food chain!

So, you reckon a 'winny' player who turns up a little early for say a €300 buy in tournament would turn his nose up at the offer of a free sit n go?

    I doubt it.

They're a good idea Ste from your POV, you may get local guys who'll drop in and try win a seat, bust out, then decide 'ah sure I'm here anyway'.

There's no harm in them either way.

the major problem i see with freerolls is that it always seems to be the same people playing them.

in galway there are 5-6 students who play it regularly, if they lose they go home which is fair enough but if they win they sell the ticket and still go home

    Hey,

My view is that they're ok but not worth too much hassle.

If there's a speed or turbo freeroll on I'll play but there's no way I'd start a full length freeroll with a few hundred players and a first place of 80 quid.

They cost you the time and effort of playing them though. You have to consider that bigger players (not necessaraily winning players!) dont want to spend that time playing them. (the phrase "cash rich, time poor" springs to mind.
