selling DVDs in Gamestop

Sorry if I am off topic, but I am not quite sure which is the right forum to ask this question. I am getting rid of allot of my stuff. Is it still possible to sell your old DVDs for cash, upstairs in Gamestop? it has been a couple of years since I was last in Dublin. Can anyone tell me how much they will give you for your average one disc DVD? Is it a fixed price or does it depend on the DVD? Is there anywhere else in Dublin that buys second hand DVDs?

    Thanks in advance

I imagine it's a standard price for a one disc DVD though I'm not 100% sure of that. I believe Chapters still buy movies, might be worth trying them and see if their price is any better.

Try the new Chapters on Parnell Street... they may want your DVD's more to fill the amount of free space they have. You never know, you might get a better deal.

GameStop prices depend on the title, and are generally better than Chapters.

Doesn't Game do trade-ins as well?

Why not sell em on adverts.ie , ( its part of boards ! ) you'll find the link at the top of the page , you'll probably get more money! Lots of people do it , even has its own section !

High street shops will savagely rip you off if you walk in with a bunch of DVD's , always looking to maximise profits at your expense.

Gamestop will probably give you at best 2 or 3 euro per title on average. Sure, you might get a fiver for one but then you could easily 99 cent for another. I'd second the idea of selling them through adverts.ie...

I assume you mean Henry St, and yes, it is still possible to sell them for cash or exchange. If you want the best bargain at the moment theres a new store open in Rathmines (beside the old Stella Cinema) which takes in trades for cash and exchange and they give 20% extra atop your trade in price in their first few weeks (this applys to store credit though, and not to cash)

Theyll give you a price dependant on the individual DVD, theyll take mostly anything (as most Games and DVDs can be sent away to be repaired) and depending on the DVD they can offer as little as 40c but as much as 13euro [for a single disc DVD] and upwards to around 30+ euro depending on boxsets

It depends on the DVD, but it is a fixed price in the sense that its set by company standard, so you cant haggle with them to move the price up (or you wont get a better price if youve two copies of the one DVD and ones immaculate and the others grubby.

Chapters, but they cant really be trusted, and I say that from experience as a consumer. They dont really offer you decent money I find and from the trades Ive done with them i always felt as if I was being robbed of a few quid.

Asides from those two theres not much other competition. I know Xtra Vision have started taking Games, or where, but DVDs they didnt bother with. There are a couple of shops on Talbot Street which exchange DVDs actually, but dont really give great prices. Head North from the Spike towards Connelly Station until you get to a new Supervalu near the top of the road. On youre right there are two shops that accept trade ins of DVDs/Books/Games
