    Dante's Diamond 20,30 Wolverhampton

I backed this one last time out 00dyel where it finished third at this track over 1 mile 1 furlong at 16/1.Now, I feel the horse could have won that day with a little bit more persuasion from Dean McKeown, but thats only my opinion, others may disagree. The horse travelled strongly that day and finished well, drops in distance tomorrow by a furlong which should not be a problem and with a bit more assistance from the saddle it could be a fantastic E/W bet as it is 14/1 paper price. It runs in the same class H/Cap tomorrow off the same mark. The yard like a punt so I would say watch the market, any support would be interesting.Do with this write-up as you like, but I for one will be on. 7/1 on betfair at present.
Sure to run a stinker now that I have posted this.:)

    Good Luck.:)

I fancy Voy Por Ustedes tomorrow. I'm a big big Kauto Star fan, and will be following him later in the season but I don't fancy him tomorrow. Granted, he has the recent run advantage but I fancy Voy Por Ustedes to cause an upset. An exceptional animal who should relish the ground, if it is anyway fresh enough it should go well enough to win this, and 11/4 is alot more attractive than 4/7. I might do the opposite forecast to cover the bet. The forecast is a success

Also, just to note I was impressed last time out by Kauto, which was obvious from my last post about it... and I prefer if it was not running this weekend. I don't see the need to run it to be honest.

Speaking of odds on shots I dont think Michael Muck in the 2.50 at Chepstow is worthy of its price and maybe worth taking on (small maybe)but there is 1 or 2 to beat it imo or maybe get better value without Michael Muck.

MyWayDeSolzen 2.05 Nap The softer it is the better for this mud lover. So impressive on chase debut(albeit against weaker opposition) Fair Along big threat but untested on the ground and i doubt hel enjoy as much as the selection

Moorlands Again 3.40 e/w (Forecast 11/1) Loves a slog over this distance (3m5f) Gets that today. Had a nice pipe opener 3wks ago over inadequate distance only weakened in last 2 furlongs. Bottom of weights All career wins(3) over these conditions. Should give good account

I also agree with Sjones I think Voy Por Ustedes could have what it takes to beat Kuato Star in the 2.35 Goes well fresh is a class act as we seen in the Arkle, super jumper and will be primed for this, also 11/4 is prob biggest price youl see this one at for a long time

    one horse for tomorrow
    12.45 - Fairyhouse - Silent Oscar

not much of a price but my always reliable source assures me defeat is out of the question tomorrow

    3:10 Sandown - Nation State

It's quite interesting to see Ruby take a rare ride for Gary Moore. Nation State has some very solid looking form to his name without winning including a 3rd in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham festival. The soft ground is a slight unknown to him but I think he'll handle it ok. He ran a solid return race at Ascot a couple of weeks ago and looks to be a very well handicapped horse off a mark of 117 considering pretty much every horse behind his in the Fred Winter is now rated higher than that mark. If he can retain or even improve on his novice ability he must go close today.

3:40 Sandown - Moorlands Again (ew), Dead Eyed Dick (ew)

3Miles 5 on soft ground is going to be a true war of attrition so I'm going to opt for 2 old sloggers at big prices. Moorlands Again has already won over this distance on soft ground at Warwick earlier this year and goes off bottom weight today which will be a huge advantage.

Much the same can be said of Dead Eyed Dick, won't be doing anything in a hurry but stays all day. He actually won over 4 miles on soft ground this time last year. He's been dropped 3 lb since his last run and could well make the frame.

1:20 Wetherby - Into the Shadows

Into the Shadows was a decent animal on the flat who should relish testing conditions. He still looks open to plenty of improvement over hurdles. Through a formline with a horse called Tamreen who he beat out of site at Aintree he seems to have the beating of chief market rival According to Pete who was well beaten by the same horse at Stratford.

    1:45 Cheptsow - Dancing Rock

For an 8 year old Dancing Rock hasn't got many miles on the clock and could well be able to take this after a decent comeback effort after a long absense last time out when he wasn't pushed at all hard. He's already a proven staying hurdler and I'd be hopeful he'll handle conditions.

I fancy Sophist in the first at Fairyhouse to reverse placings with Piltown today. It has run once since they met, and rather well it has to be said. There is nothing in its form to suggest that it should not go well today. It's due a win and it looks like today will be the day. Things have started to go right with it since this useful claimer took the mount, who should know this horse well enough by now. 1st @ 5/1

I agree with mdwexford with regards to Silent Oscar.

I'm going to be dutching in the 1.50 with Merdeka NB and Sir Frederick, the former who fell last time out is a horse who Taffe has a very high opinion of and should go very well today. Barry knows this horse very well and has taken the mount and won on several occasions. If it is to be beat today I think Sir Frederick would be the one to do it providing he gets his jumping sorted out. Sir Frederick wins at 11/2, Merdeka 2nd

If there is support for Camptect in the 2.20 I would suggest following it. I'm going to wait to see if there is any movement in the market before touching it. Penny Hall won well enough last time out it has to be said, but Camptect was getting closer with every stride and Penny Hall needed the line - just because Nina eased down a bit early. It's a furlong extra today, and if Camptect is let go at the right time then it will be an interesting finish. Pipped on the line, 7/1

I'm not going to touch the 2.55 race, but will be watching closely to see how Dreux and New Field perform.

I got a tip for The Wandering Man from the owner last time out. Listening to owners can be dangerous but I did follow it that day and it won very comfortably. It has a weight hike today but I cannot see anything beating it. NAP Nowhere.

I've changed my mind about Kauto Star and have decided to back him at 4/7 (doubled up with My way de solzen in the 2:05)

I was initially concerned about running him now, but by all accounts, he is more than ready to take this. Apart from the obvious form he has shown, I thought I'd point out a few other interesting pointers/statistics:

-Backing the favourite in Chases at Sandown shows profit over the past 5 seasons
    -Proven on the Course
    -Proven on the Distance
    -Proven on the Ground
    -Top of the RP ratings
-Nicholls' yard has been in good, profitable form over the past year

All that aside though, He can be forgiven for falling last year, and has more experience this time. I was originally going to lay him as I thougt he was not ready, but as I researched it more, everything about him said it should be backed. Id reckon Voy Por Ustedes has to be the biggest threat. I know he was not great last time out, but I'd be hesitant to rule foto island out completely too.

You just had to go and do that to me didn't ya wb? hehe. I fancy Voy Por Ustedes, but put it this way, there is no way I would be laying Kauto Star on betfair.

Cheers man, don't think my next selection Dancing Rock will be winning, drifting like a barge pole in the betting.

Aye not to be, got a bit of a knock from the horse that fell and didn't do much after that.

Some win by Fair Along. He absolutely flew away from My Way De Solzen!

    Cheers wb! :)

Camptect ran a blinder from last to get involved. Looks like it was beaten on the line though.

Edit: Aye the gamble wins. That's also my first bet on sfat.co.uk beaten.

What a win by Kauto Star. This is some horse, it really is. You can see why there was so much hype about it this time last year. A superstar.

    Good going sjones.

What about Kauto Star, he made some decent horses look very ordinary.

As for My Way De Solzen, I've backed him for the Sun Alliance so was pretty surprised to see he was being aimed at the Arkle, hopefully today showed that he's no 2 miler.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,752 ✭✭✭wb

That was simply a pleasure to watch (kauto star)

Cheers mate, the forecast covered my bet.

I was very surprised with My Way De Solzen, didn't look itself at all. Even if you take Fair Along out of the race MWDS was not fluent. I think it didn't like Fair Along jumping along side it.

Artistic Lad in the 2,55 Fairyhouse

Having a little e/w bet on this.Could go well at 14/1 or bigger on betfair.

Dreux had a nasty fall when looking a winner over the third last. New Field didn't really get into it at all and possibly needed the run.

    Nice each way there Tush!

    Mo 16.20 Kempton

This race has alot of new-comers in it,and the all-weather is always a hard track to win with a first timer and seen as how Mo has course experience it could be the one to beat here.Tentative choice in a dodgy race. But you cant beat experience.
