BWMeter - Spyware?

I've been running BWMeter for a while to monitor my downloads.
I then ran Ad-aware today and it picked it up as spyware with a process called Win32.Generic.PWS running with a TAC rating of 10.

Is this just heuristics gone wrong or is this actually a dangerous program?

Google brings up some information on it, sez its a keylogger. Did Ad-aware remove it?

It did indeed. Can spyware masquerade inside other programs because there is no mention of BWMeter having any spyware anywhere else?
