Comag Porty Problem

I have a Comag Porty which I bought in Lidl about two (I think) years ago. Because it runs a bit hot I have always switched it off at the mains at night. When switched on next day the red power indicator would light up and the green front panel channel indicator would come on showing the last tuned channel and everything was fine.

Recently, however, when switched on next day, while the red power indicator does light up, the green channel indicator does not, and no channel is received. Pressing buttons on the unit or on the remote has no effect.

By switching off and on at the mains a few times, the green display eventually lights up and the unit can be got to work, initially with a blocky picture, which then comes all right after a minute or so.

Anyone any ideas, or is it in its death throes?

I had a problem with a comg SL55 a few years back. I emailed Comag @ hotline@comag-ag.de and they asked me to send the unit back for repair. I explained that I had already opened the unit myself to take a look, but they said that was not a problem. I found them extremely helpful.

Email them and explain what is happening. They may be able to repair it for you.

Thanks for your reply. How much would you say it cost you altogether for postage and packing, etc.?

In the end i decided not to send it back, I bought a unit from Satellite.ie with dual CI slots.

    Sorry :)
