At the Armaggedon Show on 18 Nov Bout 11 international 5 rounds.
A great bout with a bad decision the Dublin Warriors gym fighter Mike clearly did more and attempted to uterlise Knees to the Head as per B class rules he also finished stronger winning the last 2 rounds yet to the dismay of both fighters and corner men + crowd who booed and referee the English travelling fighter was given the decision.
Things like this have happenend before and probably will again but all this suceeds in doing is confusing the lay man and undermining the sport.Althou Thai in Ireland has been about for several years it is still in its infancy we do not need to create confusion and bad feelings similar as to what has happened in ProBoxing. There are no winners with bad decisions but one loser which is the sport overall.  :mad

A judgement like the one you mention is always going to cause a lot of controversy because one group of people is going to like it while the other will strongly disagree with it. There's just no real solution for that.

Was there just one judge? Or 3?

there were 3 experienced judges... all irish i might add... some of them who had trained with mike for a long time.....

... we all get stroked at times... build a bridge and get over it... I dont see mike coming on and giving off the fellas fat too humble to complain

    Hi Guys,

I agree with PaddyC there's no point in arguing way after the fact however you say thai is in its infancy...well tae kwon do and kenpo for example aren't and these asscoiations are only really get serious with referee/judges courses in the last 5-10 years...

Paddy C stated that these guys were all Irish [whcih hopefully shouldn't make a difference] and experience if I may ask...experienced as judges or as fighters and if it was as fighters then I can respect their decision regardless...but if they are not fighters what qualifies them as judges - just a query no offence meant....

I am not a thai fighter but I really enjoy watching thai and it's a hard discipline and I have respect for anyone who fights....

    Ciao lad[ies]

Haven't been on here for a while for various reasons but I was the Chief Judge for the night at the show. Firstly I know Mike for a long time and regard him as a good friend.

However, on the night he lost the fight and if you don't know why (regardless of what you or the crowd thought!) then you don't really have a clue how Muaythai is judged. Perhaps you should consider doing a ref/judges course with the IMC (of which they will be a few next year)particularly if you're a fighter.

i talked to mike after the fight and he said he was giving up cos he was sick of the decision... thats a shame in itself... but as dave said it aint fair to come on and comment on lads judging that have been to more thai fights than most of us have had hot dinners....

( note.. paul kelly had loads of hot dinners :) )

Some of you might remember when Brendy o shea fought mick Pazsowski for the irish title he knocked mick down twice i think and mick fought back hard... at the end the cork support were going mental cos they knew brendy had won it.... th ref turned the decision and gave it to mick... because under thai rules he won the fight.....

so i will second what dave says its wrong to comment unless you have loads of experience or done a judging and reffing course....

Andrew... any word of brendy o shea... still training or triathlons?? thanks

Glad to see one of the Judges come on. Fair play to you.
