Which version of Norton? Internet 2007 will cut a lot of that stuff out if configured right. Also, are you running IE version 7? If so, you can change the privacy/security settings too.

Also think about getting Spyware Blaster. It's free, is compatible with Norton 2007, does not draw on your CPU, and blocks a lot of the malware/spyware/adware attacks.

Also, Ad-Aware SE Personal is free from Lavasoft, is compatible with Norton 2007, does not suck up your CPU, and works well with Spyware Blaster.

I would not load Spybot Search & Destroy or Windows Defender (Microsoft) with Norton 2007. They are not compatible. You will discover this if you run Norton "Security Inspector."

Try scanning for viruses in safe mode and run hijackthis and post the log up here.

You might have a rootkit

A rootkit can hide viruses and spyware from the best of anti virus and spyware scanners.

Try some of the antirootkit programs at www.antirootkit.com/software/index.htm.

Rootkit Unhooker is quite good but there are plenty of others to choose from.
