What kind of a house do you reckon you could buy on that salary? Could you afford a 3-bed semi-D in Blanchardstown?

Yeah between €3,300 and €3,400 per month

    You'd get a mortgage for about €350k

i wouldn't say you would get this any more, you used to be able to get around 315 off 60k but with interest rates gone up so much you would be looking at more like 280 at the moment. at least with the main banks and without any rent a room or parental signatures on the deeds..

you should deffo be getting 3480-3500 in your hand though, if not look at what tax reliefs you can claim..

that means its getting seriously tight for most people to buy a house in/near dublin... :-( ( well it would not take Einstein to figure that out this past few years).

I am off my own topic here, but what is going to happen in the future?

I speak to IT Engineers all day long, with good experience and qualifications, and few and far between are on 60K.

All this house price stuff, in a strange way reminds me of the dot com era....soaring stock prices, glorified web development companies worth millions, software engineers with massive salaries, people like me with 2 recruitment companies with an endless flow of clients screaming for us to find them people, everyone was getting money win win for all involved...and BANG...almost over night the lights went out on the whole sector. it was extremely scary.
