.......Anyone recommend a car stereo that will read DVDs ? Am buying in next day or two. Also would be very interested in USB in [memory keys + USB HDs] and an SD card slot......As well as the now manditory front 3.5mm AUX input - for MP3 players - playing SAT NAV via car stereo system etc.

Another topic would be head units with a motorised 7" display - can be bought for circa €300-350 up on Ebay - are mostly no name brands though....But a guy in work here reckons Jensen are a big seller/reliable:

Having a 7" screen opens possiblilities for feeding SAT NAV to your head unit [I think] + you can pack a hell of a lot of music onto your DVD R/RWs.

Also - anyone doing interesting things with Ipods ? Harmon Kardon have a nice [but pricy] kit on the market - check out this link:

    Official Product Page:

    Independant Review:

Am interested in making some good choices so all input appreciated.....

The DVD player link you posted from EBay only plays Region 1 DVD's.

    Very expensive.

Alot of mods to the Astra interior have been to add a built in touch screen to the centre console and put a hard drive in the glove box. looks very nice when its finsihed.

The ebay spec stuff but ive seen lately (single and double din all in one units) recently and the screens are truely woefull on them.Pioneer or Alpine would be my top choice but your talking the guts of 1000euro

You dont really need usb for mp3's if its playing dvds as you can put all your mp3's on dvd and play via the disc or aux input

If your on a tighter budget theres this

    http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4000.html

    Its about 350 delivered.

Theres no screen with it so if you wanted to watch films or sat nav ect you would have to hook it to an external source

Watch out for the US-spec stuff if you care about the radio tuner:

    - US FM band only starts at 87.9MHz (87.5 here)
    - It may only tune into odd FM frequencies (e.g. 87.9, 88.1, 88.3 etc.) - even freq's are used moreso than anything else here
    - No RDS (Radio Data System), so no fancy things like auto-frequency tuning (i.e. staying on the one station when travelling between different coverage areas), traffic announcements, name displays, etc.
    - Yanks use 10kHz stepping for AM radio - we use 9kHz
    - No LW
