dish panning conundrum

    Hi Folks

    A friend is experiencing the following problem;

    Using a Lacuna satellite meter, the dish is locking onto Astra 28o on the Vertical Low and Horizontal low settings with near perfect SS and PQ. The meter beeps three times as it should on locking.

    On the VH & HH settings SS is present but no PQ.
    When the reciever is connected the signal test page shows perfect signal strength and signal quality and OK is showing, but Network ID and Transport Stream read 0000. Therefore of course, he has no EPG.

    The meter is working correctly as it has been tested on another dish and nobody has changed the default settings from Astra 28o to another satellite.. Also this is the second new LNB he has tried with the same results. There are some trees about 30m away but seems highly unlikely that these are the problem.
    I would be very grateful if anybody could shed some light on the problem as we are baffled ourselves!!

    Try different receiver?
    Test with a FTA receiver and see which satellite you REALLY looking at :)

    Thanks Watty -I will get him to try this ;
    but I am still puzzled as to why the
    meter is only recieving the low frequencies and not the high ones

    There isn't a chance you're actually locking onto Astra 1? As my Lacuna does the same on 2 modes (just can't remember which two). Best thing to do is set the dish with the meter on Vertical High first (This is the first option mine boots up with, dunno if yours is the same) then work on the other modes.

    In VH and HH modes, you say strength is present but no PQ. Does the meter actually say it's locked (Found) or Searching?

    Meanwhile, got a new Horizon meter today, which I shall test out tomorrow! :)
