Nintendo Wii - The Future of Golf Coaching ?

    Hey everyone, here's a question.

Who believes that devices like the new Nintendo Wii will replace/ displace traditional methods of coaching in sports such as golf ?

For anybody who hasn't seen the ad's for the Wii, it's a new games console like the Playstation, but instead of using the normal handheld console to play, it has a wireless three dimensional motion sensing 'wand'. In other words you hold a small box and as you wave it around the main unit can sense the motion and it's position in real terms.

The possibilities seem to be endless, you could make up a dummy club (or tennis racket etc) which would actually react to how you move it and you could analyse your swing in 3D on the screen. You'd probably even be able to overlay the swing of top pros onto yours.

Oh, and for anybody who doesn't want to buy the Wii, then just wait for an interface unit to come along for your computer - I was shown a 3D wireless mouse that worked on the same principles about 12 months ago.

Any comments ? I can certainly see it becoming a replacement for the video cameras some coaches use, but am not sure if it would entirely replace the coach themselves (I'd think probably not).
