My lcd monitor woes

    Hi,

How much do you people know about LCD monitors?

For a while now, when I turn on my PC, I have to wait for about 30 minutes for my LCD monitor to warm up (it has a black screen initially).

But, since yesterday, I cannot get it to display anything at all. The power led is green, even if I disconnect it from the PC (it should turn orange).

Any ideas of what could be wrong and if it will be worth it to try and have it repaired? I see the new 19" LG from Komplett is a mere 209 Euros now.

If repairs are feasible, any suggestions on where to get it done?

    Thanks for your time!
    Kosie

What type of monitor is it? Might not be worth fixing.

    Backlight has gone btw.

It is a MA-982K 19" 24ms monitor, not state of the art ;)

Go to menu, reset to factory default, if that doesnt work try degauss,in menu.I had monitor, went off after 3o mins, turns out,my graphics card was overheating ,had to install new fan.try it on another pc, or any device that connects to lcd, what connectors does it have, vga, dvi?

I can't go to menu, screen is black. It has a VGA port. I also tried it on another box and the screen stays black, so it is definitely the monitor.

That colouration is probably a bent pin or a bad cable (I had a red monochrome screen after bending a pin on my vga cable). Try a different cable and/or different card.

I think krazy_8s is right here. Generally its not worth the cost of repairing.

I still can't believe people take anything gamer says at face value after all this time.

He talks purely out of his behind on all subjects.

Do you use degauss often on LCD's? :D

floresent light is gone in the screen, if its in a laptop, i'd replace the lamp, and if its still the same reaplace the controller, it used to be easy to do on ibm laptops

if its a pc screen, claim on the warrenty or bin it

That sucks dude! Looks like it's time for you to shell out some cash. Buy that LCD at Komplett and send this faulty one in for repairs. If it gets fixed, you can then enjoy some multi-LCD fun :D Of course you will need to get a dirt cheap PCI VGA card if your PC has only one display output.
