Does anyone know if Wii games will be region free or not. There was a rumor that Nintendo was ok for game publishers to make their games region free but this was entirely up to then. Haven't heard much since but it would be good to know.

No they're not. The rumour was a miscommunication a few months back (iirc) where someone in nintendo mentioned "learning lessons from the ds" which hinted at allowing the developers the choice of going region free or not, but then a week or so later they announced that this wasn't the case.

Hopefully Datel will make a Freeloader 2. Nintendo has a history of having easy-to-bypass region protection on their consoles, so hopefully something will pop up for the Wii. They're still quite lax on their European release schedele.
