Well its the second time its happened,

Was getting an amp posted over from the UK after paying through PayPal. The seller claims he sent it 2 weeks ago and there is no sign of it yet.

Do I have any leg to stand on at this stage?

I'v emailed him and asked if the post was registered,he says he's going to contact Royal Mail.

Getting sick of having these risks with ebay,am less inclined to use them anymore

Did you pay for registered post? Was it even an option?

You can start a dispute with paypal. If they find in your favour then you'll have the money refunded.

I'd say the best thing is to raise an Item not received claim with PayPal and see about getting your money back on this, you can raise an issue to communicate with the seller to try and resolve the problem and if you get no satisfaction you can then raise it to a claim or cancel it if you receive the item, and PayPal will be able to review the communications sent back and forth from the raised issue and decide an outcome (no,partial or full refund).

Also why would the seller need to contact Royal Mail about whether the item was registered, he should have that information to hand from the receipt from royal mail. sounds a bit suspect to me. What kind of feedback did the seller have? was he there a while? any previous negative feedback of similar problems?

were u covered under PBP ? ( full paypal buyer protection) ie, the blue shield on the listing.

It is the duty of the seller to send it receorded, if he hasnt , visit the resolution centre in paypal, file a dispute for non receipt and escalate it to a claim straight away .

The seller will be asked for a tracking number for registered post (regardless if you paid for it or not) if he cant provide this you will get your refund. (even if you receive the item in the end)

The point is, its the liability of the seller to ensure the buyer receives the item , if he cant prove that you have received it, paypal will find in your favour.

This shouldnt put u off ebay, its not risky - you the buyer chooses reisky transactions, you have to know what to look out for and how to create the security for yourself should something go wrong.

A link to the listing would be usefull..

So long as you paid with paypal you will get your mony back minus 15euro for paypals trouble. It is worse to be a seller than a buyer, the buyer has all the protection.

Its not terribly late, things sent from the UK, in my experience, tend to get lost often but turn up. Was it just regular airmail as the method of shipment?

I bought games earlier in the year, paid by paypal and never received them.

Contacted the seller a few times, no response MEANWHILE he continued to buy and sell on ebay as I could tell from his feedback which was being updated every day!

I opened a dispute with ebay and heard nothing from anyone about it, then it 'timed out' or 'expired' (the dispute) and there's nothing anyone can do for me.

    What the hell!

I had a similar experience with a situation like this before. It was a business in sheffield that had an ebay store so I jumped on a ryanair flight and turned up there with everything printed in hand. It turned out that they didnt actually have it when they advertised it and were trying to get me one from another source. I caused a bit of a scane in the store.

How I found the address was i setup another ebay account with different details and bid on another one of their auctions and told them i was local and would collect. They gave me the address. I turned up and caused a stink and got sorted out with an even better product.

    Try it ya never know

I am having a similar issue, I am waiting on an item for 4 weeks now. the guy is in Germany, I write to him every week (In German) and he keeps saying he will check with the courier. Recently, he said he would send the items again but at this stage I dont know what to do!!

Actually, I just checked there and the shop says they sent it, the courier tried to deliver it and said they couldnt so they sent it back to the dtore in Germany but the crowd in germany have not received it back yet.
They say when they receive it they will send it through another supplier.
I thought when something cannot be delived in Ireland, you get a little sticker in your door to say it will be waiting in the post office depot?? No??

That is normally the case, some sort of indiction that they tried to deliver. UPS do the same to me quite often. "Customer not available" or similar when I am around all of the time, a bit of a joke alright.

    What do mean Ruu.
Is this common, they pretend they tried to deliver but didnt bother their arse or am I misunderstanding

It has been common in my experience but only when getting my items delivered by UPS. I am in an apartment complex at the moment, it would be easier for them to deliver to the main office but thats not allowed because the office staff can't be responsible for the items taken in and have to notify tenants that packages are waiting for them.
I think they just can't be bothered making their way to my apartment. I was waiting for a package a few days ago, I knew it was meant to be delivered (I was tracking it on the net). The morning of delivery, it showed 'out for delivery' and a few seconds later 'customer not available' when I was in my apartment that day. That was the latest incident. :)

That exact same thing happened to me before with golf clubs. The company had sent the goods through parcelforce and the driver claims he left calling cards as no one was at the house. No cards were left. As my house is not in an estate and has no number, obviously the driver got pissed off looking for the house.Golf clubs ended up back in England and he was trying to charge me again for shipping.Goes to show how much we need postal codes like the rest of the modern world.

Should I contact Paypal or Ebay about this latest one then?Who will actually sort it out better?

alternitively it could just be late,It was sent by normal Airmail.I'v emailed him to supply me with a registration number for the parcel. How would I get in contace with customs or something to see if its there?

    Thanks

You've got to be a bit more proactive then that. If you open an Item Not Received dispute with eBay and you don't get any joy from the seller, you can escalate it to an eBay Standard Purchase Protection Claim. You're not as guaranteed to get your money back as you would with a PayPal dispute but it's worth a shot. Unfortunately it's too late for you to do that now.

If ye paid with PayPal, you should go to them first, then try the eBay dispute resolution service I mentioned above.

This is the reason paypal is used. As other people have mentioned, use the steps to open a dispute with the seller through paypal.

Sorry to go off topic but I dont see how having a postal code would be of any use in the situation you mention above. Unless of course the post code was for your house.
