Im checking into this is, they seems to be only 2 to free options : zonealarm and sygate. Zone Alarm is on 15 day trial. After 15 days do I have to reinstall?
Sygate is non longer supported though.
    Which one would ye recommend?

    I hear Kerio is good.
Not sure if it works on '98.

Sygate will still work pretty well anyway, you can download version 5.6 here.

I have zonealarm on a W98 machine I use occasionally, it works for free, however they've stopped supporting it and won't be releasing any new patches/versions.

AtGuard 3.22 was good for win 98

    direct download here

AtGuard Firewall: Symantec Corporation bought AtGuard several years ago and since then all of Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewal is based on AtGuard. This is the last version of the old AtGuard, and for those of you who don't mind "getting your hands dirty," AtGuard is still the best firewall we've seen for Windows. Included in this package is all of the documentation, plus a wonderful set of registry keys that pre-configure the program to shut down most of Windows' notoriously open ports, protect against just about any hacker attack, as well as some other important configuration items.
