I have recently reinstalled XP on 1 of my PCs, I am trying to get the thing reconnected, i'm runnigng the new connection wizard and I have tried several options but to no avail.

I have run ipconfig /all to try to get mac address so I could resevre an ip specifically for this pc on my router but ipconfig /all only brings back 1 line of text 'Windows IP Configuration'. which seems strange to me.

Anybody have any ideas what the issue might be or what I'm doing wrong.

Forget about the new connection wizard for starters, it's more hassle than it's worth.

What kind of connection have you, wired or wireless? Also, what is the router connected to?

Is the network card set to obtain IP address automatically? If so, just plug the ethernet cable into the computer - you shouldn't need any configuration.

The problem sees to be that the onboard network card is not being detected. I've got the Asus motherboard cd disk and trying to install stuff drivers et al from there, so far to no avail. I'm just going to reinstall xp shortly if nothign else works.

I'm thinking that may just be your problem. :)

I don't think you need to reinstall XP, it's a massive overkill - just install the drivers. Download them on another PC.

tbh i don't even know what drivers I'm looking for, by the time I find out I'll probably have reinstalled xp. It's not as if I have anything to save on my c drive as it's just a fres reinstallation anyway, problem is though, when i go to reinstall it sees my c drive as the d drive and i have another set of headaches:(
