Parking banned in centre of O'Connell Street

I know this has been raised before.

For those of you based in Dublin, do you park in the centre of O’Connell Street or do you use Princes Street?
I noticed the warning sign about bikes being removed. Has this ever happened as I could do without buying a new lock and a release fee from the pound.
All credit to the council worker who can hack through my lock though-it’ll take a while.

I reckon it’s far safer to park in the centre of O’Connell St since you’re out in the open and the street has blanket CCTV coverage.
Just worried the city council might start enforcing their parking rules in the run up to Christmas.

i park there all the time and have never been moved.
i once asked a garda could i park there and he said yes.
if they wanted to to remove your bike they would just crane-lift it off
not sure what theyed do if it was locked to a lamp-post

and if you think your lock is good have a look at this months "bike" magazine.
they show thieves nicking bikes in 6 minutes

As far as I could make out it is only banned at the specific bicycle parking bits, no? E.g. there is nothing to stop you locking your bike outside those areas and using the kickstand?

Officially we're supposed to be able to park where there's facilities for bicycles. It's a joke that they have a big bicycle park there, but motorcycles aren't supposed to. I park around the side entrance to Pennys, near the GPO arcade. Alternatively, you go down Abbey Street (heading northbound on o'connell street, turn left at supermacs) and turn right onto Liffey Street and park at the back entrance to Arnotts, I park there sometimes. In fact, i've got about 10-15 dead handy parking places around the city center, almost never have to walk more than 50m to any given shop.

I've had two bikes robbed from there. One was stripped, one was taken completely.

Fcuk, that's the end of me parking there. Thanks for the warning.
