Has anybody bought the Medion 19" LCD from Aldi?

    Folks,

I am in the market for a PC LCD. I was going to buy a Samsung 20" from Komplett but I notice the Aldi one has a 1000:1 contrast ratio. I believe this indicates the colour and sharpness quality.

    Has anybody got one?

    Thanks.

Yeah i'm using it right now. Excellent monitor. I payed €280 as far as i can remember and it was still good value at that. €199 is a steal.

Cheers for that D.T. Did you have to queue up for it the last time?

No i just went to the shop that evening and they had a couple left. might be a different story now that their €80 cheaper though.

hey, asked this question over in home entertainment, wondering if anyone else here would know

ive seen the one in aldi this sunday, http://www.aldi.ie/special_buys2/product_494.html ,
    looks pretty nice and that.

I was also looking into connecting it into my consoles, like the ps2 or the Wii, when i get one. Also maybe turn it into a TV, though would that involve it getting a tv card fitted, is that possible?

anyway, i then saw this monitor

    http://www.aurora.se/samsung/samsung-711mp.htm

for the same price in PC world. now it has a TV tuner built in, so can be used for tv and id say consoles straight away too.

i havent a clue about TV's, in that response times, contrast ratio etc.

so im wondering, would either TV work on the consoles easily enough, and what about turning the aldi one into a TV?

also, i know the PC world is 2" smaller, what difference will the response times and contrast ratio make?

sorry about the long post, but any answers would be great?

The monitor isn't the nicest looking but it isn't butt ugly either. Maybe I have low standards :)

The spec is better than the monitors in PC World and in Argos.

The refresh rate and contrast ratio are better. These provide a better overall picture.

D.T. Jesus is happy with his. I use a Dell Ultrasharp 17" LCD at work. I'd like it to be as good as it.

I'm sitting in front of a Dell 19" Ultrasharp here in work and my Medion 19" is better, best thing about the Aldi is that if it gives you trouble with 12months, bring it back for a refund, Aldi are great in that respect

Yep, I agree with you on both counts, the monitors we use in college are all dell 19" and their not as good as my medion imo. Aldi are great for refunds too. :):):)
