    Hey,

Buying a new laptop for my brother's 21st, budget around €700 to €800.
Is there a better value option than Dell with this budget?
This machine seems ok, price €758, any thoughts?
Should I spend a few more quid on a better processor?

Toshiba online? They were first to invent the laptop. Worth a look?

Have a look at the Dell Outlet store, you might find something slightly cheaper that fits your budget.

The best mobile processor at the moment is the Intel Core 2 Duo. You should try to look for a notebook with that cpu. 1GB of ram is just about right. As for the graphics card, will your bro be using this laptop for some serious gaming? In that case, make sure the laptop has at least a Mobility Radeon X1600 or an Nvidia 7600 mobile derivative. These two components will likely drive the price of the laptop above €1000 but that's better than a dissatisfied brother, right? :)

with Vista on the way you should be looking at getting 2gb of ram imo.

Might not be possible on that budget though.
