    Both were tragic characters in their own right (sexuality and lifestyle issues) but...judged solely on entertainment, comedy value and legacy...

    Who do you think was better and why?

    I never really saw enough of both to judge properly but I do remember Benny Hills' song 'Ernie!' and that to me was a classic, so I'm going to go with Benny.

    Kenny was'nt just funny, he was brilliant. He was the first DJ/Presenter
    to play with the medium in which he worked. At his peak in the mid 70s he lived in Wales spending his days inventing his radio world and taping it for dispatch to the BBC in London where the results were broadcast. Then he did it again on TV, again the first person to play with the tricks of the trade to create visual gags that could only work using the then new VT technology.

    Benny Hill on the other hand was a clever version of the "end-of-the-pier" comic. Nothing more really. And yes I have Ernie on 33 rpm disk!

    I always found Kenny Everett hilarious, as tv/radio presenter and as a comedian, all his characters were great , but Benny Hill just did the same thing over and over for years, and for me it didn't stay funny for long.
