    hi

so i was thinking of getting the new LCD screen in aldi this week for my PC
    got me thinking though:

could this be used with a Wii?

i dont know much about tv's, screens, LCD, hi def etc etc, but some questions?

    a) is it possible?
b)would i need some sort of converter to connect it?
c)if it will work, would it be worse or better than a standard TV, as in would the remote work as well?

if anyone knows that'd be great, cheers

    this http://www.aldi.ie/special_buys2/product_494.html ??

    a normal lcd monitor.

    (a) its possible.

    (b) if you can get the component cables for the wii (might be hard to come by), you can get a component to vga transcoder.

    (c) will make no difference to the remote - takes no info from the screen - only the sensor bar.

to be honest - I think you'd be better off sticking with your normal tv.

    Of course it will work.

There is no need to buy component cables. The Wii comes with RGB scart in the box (which is exactly the same as Component apart from component also factoring some extra bits -chromonesence and luminesence (sp?)).
The Wii is also NOT HiDef (720p/1080i) so there will be no HD benifit - the best you will get is 420p I believe.

so does that mean straight from the box i can plug it straight in?

    No

    erm - Yes!

With the RGB Scart. (as far as I know that's what comes by default in the box)

Or what do you know Reactor?

No you won't be able to hook it with the connections in the box. event is looking to buy a 19" LCD monitor from aldi not a LCD tv. The monitor will only have VGA and DVI connections which you will need a converter for and the component cables.

Also the Wii will not come with an RGB scart. It will come with the three RCA cables - yellow, white and red for composite video and l/r audio. This will plug into a scart adapter that hooks up to a tv which will still only give a composite signal. If you want RGB you'll have to buy another connection.

The Wii outputs in at most 480p as far as I know through component connectors and 480i through composite/RGB/S Video (Probably does 576i at 50hz as well).

I know that he's talking about a PC monitor, not a tv.

    What do you know?

Well I know (now) that it is a monitor rather than a TV, but there are some monitors that have SVideo inputs in which case it will work with a Wii straight out of the box.

    :o

The wii doesn't come with an s-video cable either. Anyway its irrelevant because the monitor he's talking about doesn't have an s-video connection.

You should check the facts before you give incorrect advice.
