Anyone using the Route 66 Chicao navigation kit?
€300 for the Ireland-GB kit. Nice big screen, 512mb card and the new Q2-2006 maps.
    Looks like good value.

That looks like very good value and from having had a glance at the manual it seems to be very capable as well.

Now ...where did I put my letter to Santy? ...I have to add this...

That looks really good indeed. Anyone know if its possible to load europe maps onto it if you want to go travelling?

I think this might suit the ould fella as a christmas present :)

It looks great, but when I went to the orders page it wouldn't let me order one. Strange.

This more expensive one has the European maps on it.

100 euros just for more maps? Meh :/

I'm experiencing the same problem as Anan1 above - all of the kits are greyed out on the order page.

    same problem here ...

sent off a mail to their support ..let's see what the answer is

This cheaper one has all the European maps (also from Route66) on it. I got one myself & it works a treat.

Do a search on the boards to find a lot of discussion. Longest thread is here.

Yes, but the Airis has a smaller screen. Dunno about the rest of you, but i'm buying this as a Christmas present for my mother!

Seems to be available through several e-tailers on the contintent who claim to have it in stock.

Unfortunately the only one selling the 6000 with the IRL/UK maps, situated in the UK, doesn't ship to this here little repubbalick.

    Double Bugger !

You would think they should know when they will have them available.

Apparently they only came onto the market this month.

I reckon they have to satisfy their retail partners first before they sell it to the likes of you and me through their own webshop.

    Late update to this tread,
Halfords are selling the Route66 Chicago 6000 for 259.99euro.

I was informed that this was the UK price £259.99 sterling by another board member so I nipped down to Halfords this morning and picked one up for 259.99 euro (Just in case they put the price up :) )

Was just in Halfords in Carlow, and the Chicago 6000 is indeed on sale at €259, marked as half price special offer. The guy in the store confirmed its on sale at that price, no mistake.

Might pick one of these up today. We have a scheme in work so I can get 10% off everything in Halfrauds.

    :D

I have mine fully charged and tested it out and so far its great!!

I can't get over the size of the display!!

I am looking at a driving holiday in France next year so an upgrade to the EU version is looking very likely. I'll hang-on until about a month before I go before getting it.

Got one yesterday for the wife, and its great.

I also have Route 66 PPC on my PDA. My "britain.prm" is 213M and dated 7 Sep 2006 while the file that I got with the new Chicage is 337M and dated 10 Nov 2006.

I know that the smaller map doesn't have major european routes on it but are there any Ireland changes between the two versions? (BTW I also have the european maps on the PDA so I don't really need the bigger britain.prm if the major european routes are the only difference)

Anyway, if the britain.prm that came with chicago has more recent Ireland data, can I put this on my PDA?

    @Patrickof:

The maps are interchangeable between the two. The 213MB Britain.prm is the Q2 2006 maps (the latest currently available), but I am very curious as to why the one that came with the 6000 is 337MB. In my mind it can only be because:

    a) It has better POIs (they're not great in the 213MB file), or
    b) It also has roads outside the UK and Ireland, or
    c) It is the Q4 2006 maps, which are not supposed to be released until next month.

Will you let us know what you find out!

I think its due to more roads outside Uk/Ireland. I did a search for Paris and was able to view maps of France, though only main roads/motorways.

So I guess this is the extra data in the file.

Hi there, I have chicago 6000 with UK card.
On my PDA, I have also Route 66 and the map files for France and Germany but I don't have the product codes for both maps in order to generate a activation code on www.getactivationkey.com.

Anybody else has experienced the same situation? What happens if you don't register/activate the 2nd map on the device, does it lock it after a certain time?

    thanks,

well you can rule out option c for starters.....only a handful of beta testers have this release at present

option a ....POIs take up very little data... perhaps a few k

so perhaps you have european maps ??

search for " periana "spain and feedback?
