first time connection

    Hi all,
    I got my new Eircom phone line in my home today. House never had a phoneline before.
    Now I want to get Broadband. I'm thinking about going with BT. Is it as simple now as filling in BT's online order form, with my new phone number, or do I still need to deal with Eircom, to get the broadband initially set up, or what?

    BT will almost certainly need your Eircom account number to process your order. Eircom will not give this out over the phone, and (in my friends experience) multiple phone calls may be required for them to finally send it out. Once you have that, you will only need to deal with BT.

    Sadly you will be waiting at least a fortnight for that account number you need. It's scandalous. Do bother them over the phone though or it might take a month.
