Advice for those of you new to eve that havent been around for a content expansion before. set a LONG skill tonight, preferably 7+ days. if there is problems with the patch and you lose precious days training there is no getting them back.

    so be prepared.

i so want toget some cash together for a new HAC deimos looks kicking.

18 days left on caldari cruiser lvl 5

Stupid piece of crap CCP and deliberately timing the upgrade 24 hours of downtime during MY 14 day trial.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,892 ✭✭✭bizmark

I hear any new characters created after the expansion will start with up to 800k skillpoints? Is that true? I started the trial yesterday, but think I'll just start again after the patch. :)

Ya and they lowered the requirements of the advanced learning skills ......lucky bloody n00bs my avatar could barely tie his shoe's when he started

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

Offs. Thats almost four times the skill points I have now.

Yeah but I was fond of her! I know 12 or so hours is sweet FA for a MMORPG but now I've got to decide between deleting her or missing out on 800k skill points.

Its a bit unfair that there's no warning to newbes about this new avatar creation system .....i guess they could just give us all 800,000 free sp's to make up :D

they are also raising anyone made within a week of the upgrade to the point they would be if they just made the character so zillah when you login you will probably have 810k xp or so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,264 ✭✭✭✭Hobbes

Whats 810xp get you? Sounds like they are catering for the anti-farmers.

    2 rank 1 skills at 5 or one rank 2 at 5(512k). then a few 4's.

so if your skills were for instance gunnery, race frigate and starship command, you could start with gunnery 5, race frigate 4 and starship command 5. which is a VERY nice start as after about 12 days training you could fly assault frigates, for missions and the like.

    7+ days??
Suddenly the last 2 days on Missile Operation V doesn't seem such a safe bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

it probably will be safe, but id rather be safer :)

    Ohh shiney new grey loader.

Looks like the additional skill points are assigned over the current ones, my 3 day old characters skills levels jumped quite a bit this morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 998 ✭✭✭zekiel

I'm assuming that has the same effect if you create a new alt?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

Yes, I did indeed get a whole load of skill points. But they assigned them for me. To bollox like mining. I don't mine! They bought me like 4 levels of mining! So I made a new character. This one is more fun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

they give the points as the character would have turned out if you made him the same way new.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 132 ✭✭jaysonia

boooo i want those free skill points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

so i made a new character last night to test out the character creation and all i can say is wow

    Gunnery 5
    small projectile 4
    sharpshooter 4
    frigate 3
    spaceship command 5

    stats were 7 7 7 10 8

thats practically sitting on tech 2 weapons.

also to get the salvaging skill and ALL the rigging skills costs 13.5 million, most of the rigging skills are 750-1m each and salvaging is 3.5

i have like 30 skillbooks sitting in my hangar teasing me waiting to be trained :(

em i think you were ripped off. each rigging skill costs a max 95k jury rigging is 55k

salvaging is the most expensive at almost 1mil a pops. all the rigging skills cost approx 1mil so i dunno where you bought them from. so the cost for all them skills is 2 mil max

I would never ever have chosen 4 levels of mining, so I call shenanigans on this.

checked in three different regions as i was heading south. bought them in a university station where i buy all my skills.

you misunderstand me, if you make the same character and go down the same tree now, those are the skills you would get.

so if you pick your race>bloodline>class>advancement>specialisation and somewhere in there is mining +1 then another mining +3 then sorry for you thats what you get :)

mining isnt useless though, when you are truely truely broke mining is the ultimate fallback.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

Oh I have no doubt mining is quite lucrative for those who are into it, but I have no interest.

    Splosions!

i bought mine in komo in cause it was 1 jump from where i was. and i bought loads to bring down my outpost to sell. so i dunno how you paid so much for them

I bought the rigging+salvaging skills for 95K to 1 million each. In Lonetrek.

You were seriously ripped off. It of had something to do with your skills and faction rating with the corp. Or someone just acting the prat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

the cheapest i have seen them now is 600k
im not talking about jury rigging btw, im talking about the specific rigging skills.
ill do an export on the market when i get home and show you.

The new patch rocks, the only thing I'm pissed off about is how good the new char creation is... I started a new ALT about 4 weeks ago and could have saved myself a load of time!!

Thing I can't get my head around is how do I now do a whole system scan to find out what ore is the belts, now that the scanner system has changed and for the better IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,264 ✭✭✭✭Hobbes

This whole wreaks thing is a serious pain in the ass.

Loot drops are down and you can't tell easily which ones you have looted.

I do a search for "rigging" in LoneTrek and all the skill books range from 18k to 90k.

It might very well have to do with your standings, diplomacy skills and trade skills (which I have reasonable stats in :) ) Either that or click sort by price ;)

If you want I can buy them for you and you can just pay me 300k for each.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

i already have them all. ill be salvaging on sunday.

I suppose I had better train BC5. I really like the new myrmidons, especially with 6 cheesy medium NOS.

I only started playing last night and didn't even finish the tutorial, but I am sitting here wringing my hands wonder why I can't log on (addicted already) ;-)

I saw on the official site that the server was going down on tuesday but couldn't see anything about today?

    So, whats the story?

Or Pirates. How do I scan for pirates...?

I am not so sure you can I think you might have to launch scan probes to kinda triangulate their position or something ghey like that.

Depends on the system you log off in. I've heard alot of people are having to wait to log on into Jita

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

    Jita

    Aka "lagtastic hell".

    Jita is Eve Central.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,264 ✭✭✭✭Hobbes

technically you should stay the hell out of Jita anyway. Its listed as the most dangerous zone in the game despite being a 1.0 system.

btw, there is a bug in the courier system. You can put certain courier missions into the contracts and they can never be completed. The new courier missions are crates, the old ones (or failed ones) are plastic wrap. If you get a plastic wrapped package your fuked. It stops the complete button from appearing.

I was actually making good money until some asshole did it to me. I mailed the chap and got back "haha" type email. So petitioned and spoke to him asking for my money back or him taking his stuff. It went from screw you to, I don't exploit to I'll get your money as soon as possible.

I have personally never had any problems in Jita & tend to avoid it like the plague due to the lag and having to queue to get into the system. Its main issue is that its full of noobs who probably do stupid things like try to rob other players cans or wrecks as they are now.

As for the patch, I've hadn't too many problems with it yet, I still think the wrecks system is borked as it can be impossible to tell the difference sometimes between your can and another players. A corp mate lost his Raven this way and never got a warning message, so he'll have to wait probably 2 weeks till they get back to him with his petition.

As for the patch, I've hadn't too many problems with it yet....

Takes it all back now, I had the unfortunate experience of having to fly thru Jita last night to collect a manufacturing job from a nearby system, it took me two hours to get into Jita to fly out the other side.

In the end I bought myself a Badger II slapped a few expanders in it and gathered up every bit of mission loot & minerals etc and fooked off out of the system deep into Amarr Space!!

I won't be heading back there any time soon! The new patch is cr@p and needs to be sorted out fast or else it might be time to set Cruisers to level V and give EVE a break for a while:mad:

In fairness, it's not the patches fault every noob and their alt parks their ships in Jita. It's a hidious system to travel through and unfortunatly I have to do it every so often. I did notice that last night 1000 people where trying to get in to Jita... 1000 people. Are CCP's dreams of a decentralised market wrong? A little, Jita is still a joke. Too bad they can't kill it like Yulai.
