Not bad article though I think it fails to highlight how poor it's media support really is if you are anywhere outside the MS bubble.

The reason a few of the WMV HD clips probably didn't work is that that they were so old and possibly out of current spec or the fact that the Xbox 360's VC-1 decoder is currently single threaded and has limitations with encoded 720p content. Microsoft multi-threaded VC-1 decoder is only found on the HD-DVD drive and you must playback discs from the HD-DVD drive in order to use the multi-threaded decoder.

The encoding tools for WMV are also terrible as well, Windows Movie Maker is too basic and Windows Studio Encoder is too advanced.

Currently Microsoft are soliciting feedback about format support in the Xbox 360 on Doom 9's forums no doubt the superior media playback features in the PS3 forced this possible change of heart.
