Bass Player Looking To Join/Start Band

    Hey you…

As the title says I’m looking to join a band or start something with other musicians (mid 20’s +) who want to play in a band, create great interesting music and push well beyond playing sh1tty mid-week pay-to-play gigs.

After wasting time in bands who were more talk than action & getting somewhat disillusioned with music I’m now looking to start jamming with people who are willing to commit time and money to a band.

As regards bass players whose stlye I like I'd say Duff McKagan, Mani (particularly what he played on XTRMNTR), Jason Chancellor (Tool)…so I guess it’d be relatively aggressive but with some nice melodies when appropriate. Not a fan of over w*nky jazz funk stuff either.

I listen to and appreciate a wide variety of music from Britpop to bluegrass, trip-hop to early trashy metal, and would ideally like to work with people who aren’t too precious as regards what they listen to.

That said I would like to create a sound which is somewhat heavy melodic rock in nature with a groove and having some nice complex or subtle things going on while also trying elements of trip-hop, electronica, and techno. People who have a willingness to experiment with sounds and instruments would be a plus.

I also strongly think that while a stage show is in no way more important than the musicianship or the songs being played it is something which is really important.

Ideally I’d like to start jamming with people who have songs written or lots of ideas but not necessarily completed…maybe jam out some covers and get an idea of everyone’s playing style and tastes???…lot’s of idea & looking for people who’re the same.

Oh yeah and having fun doing it would be pretty important as well!!

That’s not too much is it???:D

Right, that was overly long and there are interesting post from some people who’re looking for band members but I don’t want to be wasting my time or anybody else’s!

So if interested please PM me.

    Cheers!

Hi,I play in this band,Sound Of Soul,we are italian but we play just original english songs.
One year ago we moved to dublin from Italy just to play music so we are really really committed.
Lately we are needing of a bass player,it's a long story.
Our music is a kind of hard melodic(?!)rock but we have a lot of influence:jeff buckley, mars volta&at the drive in,the cure placebo rush italian rock bands and other.
If you want to we can set up a meeting and i can give you a copy of our CD,you can call me at 0872994283,or mail me at corradodefabritiis@yahoo.it.
    Cheers for your time bye.

So, been in contact with a few people (guitars...mainly!) and there are tunes flying around so is there any other people out there up for joining a few other people in kicking off 2007 by getting into a rehearsal room & playing some music??

As opposed to going through everything again...CLT

    Definitely Maybe
    Lateralus
    Metallica
    XTRMNTR
    Blue Lines
    The Stone Roses
    Mellon Collie And The...
    Led Zep 4
    The Battle Of Los Angeles

So if a few of those albums are in your collection and you want to jam a few tunes PM ME!

    Thanks.

    /hi mr monkey

I have been talking tonight on phone with a drummer (we are both around 30) into rock/improv
Both of us called Gavin! Both in Dublin and eager to jam gig and record possibly. From your list I could comfortably cover Definitely maybe including vocals, and some Led zep IV tracks. I also like Nirvana tracks and Hendrix (who doesnt) and have a pile of my own stuff recorded and in the wings ready for take off sometime. The drummer suggested texting him a couple of tracks and then getting rehearsal in Walkinstown or some other rooms (not TBMC again!)

Let us know what you thinks

    Gavin (guitar /vox)
