    Hey all,

Next weekend sometime, probably Sunday, I am planning on taking a spin up from Waterford to Kilkenny with the girlfriend. Just kinda a surprise thing, bring her of for the day and do a few things! Went to Dungarvan (about an hour from Waterford) today to the cinema but couldn't do much else due to bad weather conditions :/

Anyway, im thinking of heading up next Sunday to Kilkenny. If there is anything on and the cinema is any good - ill head in there. Is there much to do / see in Kilkenny?! Even scenic routes or stuff tourists go see. I dont mind to much!

    All suggestions appreciated.

    Cheers!

If you want to go down the looking at old buildings route, you've got the castle (they do a guided tour through it) and the tourist trap shops across the road ;), St Canice's cathedral (usually open though not when there's a service on) and Rothe House (near the Market Cross shopping centre) which is an old merchant's house.

If you follow the road out of town towards Castlecomer for a few miles, there's the Dunmore Caves. I've never been in them myself but it's billed as the darkest place in Ireland.

Scenery wise, the village of Inistioge (on the road between Thomastown and New Ross) is cute enough but will probably look fairly rubbish in early December. On the outskirts of the village is Woodstock gardens but again...

Failing all that, you've got our wonderful 4 screen cinema which is currently giving you the choice of Casino Royale, The Santa Clause 3, Borat and Jackass 2 :(

Not just for the cinema. I would be visiting other places, and if have time, go to the cinema.

My intention is not to go to the cinema only ;)
