Well definetly one mistake is Weezer arent touring anymore.

I cant see how this can be done accurately this far away. Id expect to see a good few showings of Arcade fire next year though.

Frankly I hope you are wrong because the majority of these are rehashes of the last couple of years. If I live without going to another festival with Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs Id be happy. That goes for The Streets and Morrissey as well and dont get me started on New Order. I guess its because of geography more than anything else but they are the overused filler of the British Isles music festival scene. I like all these bands but Im getting bored at this stage. Bloc Party is rapidly going that way as well.

Hopefully the Pumpkins will be touring by the summer. Tool are coming back in the summer too apparently.

in fairness, you've thrown so much ****e at the wall some of it has to stick....
most of the lower bands usually play the gig circuit anyway so any off them with an album out between now and next summer are probably right.
oasis however most certainly aren't playing any festivals whatsoever next year, and neither are several of the other big names you've put in there.

I have to say that would be a terrible Download Festival. First off, Weezer dont tour anymore, and Primus I dont think are big enough to be on the Main Stage at Download. Hell, do they even release albums in the US? Muse and Wolfmother are good bands, but I dont think theyd fit into Download. Saturday is ok, but Aerosmith topping the bill over all those bands is unlikely (and KoRn being only 2nd on the bill - maybe in 2003, not today), maybe a band currently touring or with some hope of a new album coming out (er, Metallica, GNR to name two) would be more appropriate.

Sunday is also a little confusing as I dont think Zack Wylde would share a stage with Aveneged Sevenfold and Papa Roach, nevermind go on between them. Rammstein are ok, but who in their right mind would want to see Linkin Park headline over all those bands? The Sunday night headliner is usually, as far as Download is concerned, the most important headliner to end the concert with a bang (GNR last year, SOAD the year before - SOAD havent toured much at all in fact, so having them there was a great bonus).

Personally if this was the Download Festival 2007 line up id have people killed.

METALLICA PROMISED A NEW TOUR IN 2007 SO ID IMAGINE THAT YOU WILL SEE THEM.

Weezer are bringing out a greatest hits album but other than that the future looks very bleak

Velvet Revolver WILL tour in 2007

Sum 41 will probably be in there somewhere

Good Charlotte have a new album coming in March 2007 so they will play

Anthrax are still playing together, id wager we'll see them

Rock Star Supernova comprising of Lukas Rossi, Gilby Clarke, Jason Newstead and Tommy Lee have a tour planned for 2007. Fans of Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, and Metallica may want to see these guys

Queens of the Stone Age, Meh possible

Oasis will be seen im sure

Weezer aren't done, they are just on hiatus for a bit. it happened in 1997 to 2001 it happened from 2003-2006 it will happen again.

Rivers had posted on the bands website condemming that Mtv review were they took his words and manipulated them.

he also said that he's working on new songs that have weezer involved. at the moment the guy is just enjoying married life and he'll have an urge to record soon enough but there's no way they'll be touring for 2007.

also they said that the greatest hits album will not be released unless they record more songs as a treat for people to buy it...

ohh and another thing, biffy clyro are releasing a new album in 2007 so i'd imagine to see them at reading, t in the park, download + any other major festival.

is there any logic to your predictions or are you just pointlessly listing youre top 5 favourite bands for each genre of festival?

I agree with ya that this would be an awful line up and there's no way I'd go near the place again next year if your predictions are any way close to this! I doubt you'll see that many emo bands next year either after the way the metallers treated them this year (mobs chanting "kill emo", tying them to posts etc.)
I have to say one thing though... GNR at Download (Donnington) this year were one of the WORST bands I have ever seen and Sunday was the worst day of the 3 for bands imo. Hoping for something good again this year, last year was amazing!

Any band releasing an album between now and June will be on the festival circuit.
I'm mostly interested to see who will be headlining Glastonbury aside from Kylie. Doesn't seem to be an awful amount of big names doing anything in 2007, I'd tip Manic Street Preachers, Prince or The Who to headline one night and one of Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys to headline the other (Eavis said he wants a new British band to headline one night)

I'll tip The Killers a certainty to headline T in the Park/negexo, probably Muse too.

Oasis wont be touring until end of year at earliest,

    ok, my twopence.......

you ain't gonna see Sum41 - they aren't a band anymore, you ain't gonna see Primus (and if you did the touring band wouldn't really be Primus would it).......there's plenty of bands listed that may have new material out in 2007 but more than likely won't hit Europe this summer...........pointless speculating really until around the end of Jan, I don't see Aerosmith doing the outdoor European circuit anymore either, but I could be wrong.......

I reckon Muse are a certainty for all major Euro festivals this year, they have a very good crossover crowd draw, and after already selling out a date at the new Wembly next Summer it would be highly unlikely they won't play more dates......

My predictions for T in the Park/negexo Muse,Snow Patrol( i heard when they played dublin castle they said they would be at negexo next year) or Oasis to headline. other bands are Arctic Monkeys,Killers,Bloc Party,Razorlight,The View,OK GO and Fall Out Boy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,656 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Most definately Muse Id say, have said it all along I have, and on e-festivals.co.uk, they are tipped to headline TITP. And alongside playing Wembley in late June, yup, would seem likely. Id also go for the Killers to headline the other day aswell.

#Elites, if they(the Kooks) said they'll "see you next summer", it means festival touring during the summer. they just wont officially announce till whenever promoters want to. A load of bands say it at gigs actually.

are primus still going? i thought les claypool and that frog brigade band were taking up most the players time and isnt the drummer in guns n roses?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 94 ✭✭KarmaCreep

Everyone seems to be forgetting about Radiohead. Considering they'll have a new album out next year I'd fancy them for negexo/TITP. Bowie is also rumoured and considering he had to pull out 3 years ago it wouldn't necessarily be out of the question.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,568 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

i forgot to say Radiohead, yeah they seem to be a good choice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,656 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Id say Radiohead would play their own gig again, maybe not, but I just feel they would. Imagine Muse and one of their biggest influences, Radiohead, headlining the same festival...wow!

Is V the Tenants Vital in Belfast? If so, that lineup will not happen.

The line-up for DOwnload this year was abysmal, maybe they will redeem themselves by actually being a proper metal festival again.

However, Wacken, Metalcamp and hopefully Metalways are all on the cards next year! And Day Of Darkness!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,656 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

No, V is a different festival in England. Tenants Vittal is something on on in Belfast only, is that right?

Doubt Snow Patrol or Razorlight would headline. If the Killers headline...eugh! Ya could nearly put money on Muse doing one day at least.

For Download, headliner number 1 is Iron Maiden. Bruce said something bout "playing in a mucky field in England", although I think he said they aint coming over here aswell.
