Was anyone at the gig on Friday? I was there, it was fantastic. I hadn't seen them before, hadn't ever been in JJ Smyths either as it happens. Nice little intimate place, cool atmostphere.

The Trio were great, the two Guilfoyle brothers are a really great rhythm section. The bass player's solos were all so melodic, and the drummer made everything seem so easy, like it was just nothing to him.

Halferty himself was very cool, really light touch and very cool tone. Kinda Charlie Christianish, almost clean, almost overdriven.

The trumpet player they brought on in the second half was something else too. Can't think of his name right now though, he was an Australian.

wasn't at the show but I've seen Tommy plenty of times. He taught me Classics for the Leaving and I used to jam with him every week. Amazing guitarist, I think he's got a great individual style and tone. Very distinctive.

Was thinking bout going to this on Friday, but ended up at a bluegrass session in Rosie O'Grady's!
    I'm sure they'll be playing JJ's again?
Would love to see the Guilfoyle bros playing, always notice their names at jazz gigs.
    Must go next time...

Wonder who that second half trumpeter was? Must go to JJ's and catch em at some point, I've heard many good things.

    Hey Daddio,

    The trumpeter was Paul Williamson.
    Great player!

I get a mail from Ronan everytime he has a gig coming up so if you'd like I can keep you updated.

    Cheers,
    Fusion
