I put my guitar in a case that was too big for it. It fell over (in the case!!) and snapped at the machine head

It was hanging on by splinters of wood! Painful to look at!:(

Got a guy in Swords to fix it up. He seemed to be working on a few guitars when I collected it. He did a great job for me considering the mess!
You can still see the repair but only if you look closely (which was to be expected), but playing-wise, it's no different. I would have thought the strain of the strings would have affected it somehow, but not the case.

Unfortunately I no longer have a number, but his name was Rory O'Connor if you can manage to track him down...even if you just show it to him, you mightn't need to do anything, it doesn't look like to big of a problem - having said that though, you don't want it to get any worse!

Have a look at the first sticky (Musical instruments Resources at the top of the page)

The only one I've used is Derrick Nelson, Marlay Park, 4942741 = very good but not cheap.

It doesn't look bad to me in the photo as far as its possible to tell. I'd say it'd be pretty easy for a pro to fix. Even if its only in the lacquer I'd imagine its annoying if you can feel it when you're playing so if it was me I'd get it fixed pronto.

I've got to disagree there Johnny. To me, it looks like the glue between the neck and the body has given way and is showing through the the laquer. The fix? Seperate the neck and body, reglue and refinish - an expensive operation. That is worst case scenario though.

I prefer to think its the lacquer but given the age of the guitar and the use and abuse its received over the past couple of decades, it could well be the neck on the way out. I cant feel the crack when playing as its not really lifted away from the neck. Can just about feel it if you run your finger over it.

I'll definitely get a pro to look at it. I had checked out the resource sticky, just wondering if anyone had recommendations.
I had dealings with Derek Nelson many years ago when one of the lads in the band was getting a custom guitar built (not easy for us leftys to get a good guitar).
He was excellent but expensive even then (around 1987-88).

He'd be my first choice unless anyone knows of someone better.
