set of jacks in the BB

Playing a home cash game last night and a hand came up, it confused me.

    10c/20c nl, i've about €9 he covers.

In the BB with JJ, UTG raises to 40c folded to sb who calls, i raise to 1. UTG goes into think tank and eventually calls, sb calls.

    Flop comes KQJ rainbow.

    Whats my plan from here?
I bet out 1.50, utg thinks for ages then calls.

    Turn is a Q (KQJQ)

I bet out 2, he calls.

    River 7.
I push, he calls with KK

Should i have been playing it more cautiously, checking to him? Should i be getting away from this?

Im still learning the ropes myself so maybe my advice isnt the best and although the flop wasnt pretty because it could have given someone the straight but once the turn came your ahead of most hands here including the straight, Someone with triple Q's or 2 pair, you want to be getting all in here and he obviously has a hand so i think you played this well enough just ran into one of the few hands that could have beaten you.

i'd say you were very un-lucky, especially because you were betting into him for early position. Its not often you find two sets flopped in the one hand like this. Takes a very skilled player to lay this down - no sure many would.

On a positive note. You mention the way he sat and thought for ages about his call.
maybe watch out for this again and see if he has a monster hand ;)

Or maybe the other player is super cautious and afraid of monsters under the bed.
I know his KK was damm strong, but he never had an unbeatable hand :p

Just kidding, he was slowplaying and you were very unlucky.
