what to wear for an interview?

Generally i wear a nice suit, shirt and tie.
However the suit is dark and i'm wondering if it's not the best approach.
First impressions last as you know and by wearing a suit I am conveying certain things.
Chiefly i am conveying respect for my interviewers i suppose, that i take the inteview seriously.
I am also conveying the impression that i ascribe to accepted conventions of soceity (as in: you are supposed to wear a suit for an interview therefore i do)
However depending on the job and what have you, those can be positives or negatives.
I've been in one interview where i felt i was sure to get hired.
Felt very positive coming out of it.
    Only to be disappointed later.

So i'm thinking maybe the suit doesn't convey the right impression, or just doesn't suit me. Of course, maybe the suit isn't the problem at all and it's really just me.
Nevertheless i've been thinking about changing what i wear to an interview.
The clothes make the man don't they?

So anyway i'm really fit, regular gym goer and have a nice physique.
People comment that i look really fit.
So i'm thnking maybe that is a strength that could help me win the interview.
Maybe i need to wear clothes or a shirt that better compliments (reveals) my form.
A conventional suit doesn't really show off broad shoulders and pecks.
Maybe that's what i need to do to make an impression on my interviewers.
    Sounds really vain i'm sure.
But i bet that women sometimes consider wearing clothes that better display their ah, attributes.

Of course it all depends upon my interviewers, if it's a unfit, greasy, balding bloke, he might react subconsciously negatively (unless he's gay).

    What do you think?
    And what should i wear?

btw, the job would be in IT, doing support.

Have you considered wearing something like a wifebeater?
Would definitely look the part for an IT support job... it'd really drive the impression that no fúcking bítch is going to give you any shít.

Wear the suit. Based on the job you describe image is not a big deal but showing respect for the interview is.
If you don't know anything about support you won't get the job anyway.
The main reason people don't get jobs is down to how they come across and the kind of employees the employer wants.

    A few tips

    Answer questions succinctly.
Have one or two of your own.
Address all interviewers if there is more than one.

    Good luck.

Wear a big jacket with road flares strapped to your chest underneath!
