Claire Byrne presents her final bulletin for TV3 News tonight at 10:55. She leaves the station after taking on various roles during her time at Ballymount on both Ireland AM and the evening bulletins. She can be heard on Newstalk 106-108 from Monday alongside Ger Gilroy.

She was presenting the 5:30 and 6:30 earlier - I assume this means they're going to "allow" her present her final bulletin, unlike Gráinne.

Anyway, any thoughts on her work or departure?

What happened with Grainne? Have they found a replacement for CB yet?

Is Claire Byrne leaving of her own free will or is she being "let go"??? Its not like TV3 has that many High-profile news readers as it is.

On Gráinne's last day, she came prepared to do her final bulletin - she wasn't going to make a big deal or anything, she later said all she was going to do was sign off with "slán agus beanacht". However, she was told that another anchor would be filling in.

Collette Fitzpatrick will be Alan Cantwell's new co-anchor. Claire's leaving the station to join Newstalk, later than planned due to legal action by TV3 which prevented her from finishing.

Not a fan but I think she makes the most of what she's got. Radio will be interesting, but as good as Newstalk is, it's never gonna top R1 or TodayFM.

I think that she's a bit on the bossy side on the morning show, espcially when doing the papers.

She a honey alright, but i listen to her on Newstalk and she's piss poor, she wont let anyone answer a question without badgering or interruption.. Trying to be Miriam O Callaghan without her interviewing talent.

Maybe if News talk did half the amount of items per day but did them properly that would help.

I don't really know why she moved to radio. Her main asset from what I can see is that she's hot. On the radio she's terrible as she has to rely just on her personality which seems to consist of her constantly giving her opinion on topics to people who know the subject matter far better than she does and constantly interrupting guests while they're in full flow. She's not good at all in facilitating discussion and seems to feel she has to give her own opinion on everything. At least when she's on telly you can just sit back and admire a good looking woman no matter what she's saying.

She looks like a fine thing in those Newstalk ads in the papers anyway. Poor Ger Gilroy standing behind her looks like a trussed-up turkey in that suit of his.:D

you think claire byrne is hot
shes about as hot as a primary school teacher
i could never get her appeal , she always came across to me as completly gormless
she couldnt hold a candle to the sex on legs that is the voloptous grainne seoige
as for byrne on radio, next to gilroy , she cant fail to sound god

Two good things about Clare Byrne's arrival on Newstalk:
She shows up how awful the glorified sports-jock Gilroy has been as a current affairs presenter and interviewer.
Her arrival facilitated the removal of that other snooty woman with the Northern Irish accent which she tried unsuccessfully to suppress.
Claire Byrne really improves Newstalk's morning radio programme in my opinion.
( I had never noticed her on television since she used to be only on that joke of a channel TV3 )

    Agreed. I don't think she's particularly good-looking.
Can never understand how so many think she is.
    Grainne is definitely superior!
