Angry with Ryanair: Taking Sports Equipment - I'm seething !!

Just after booking a flight back to the UK for Xmas.

Noticed that if you specify you want to bring sports equipment (bike) onto the flight, it will add the cost for both ways.
Thing is I want to only bring it back from England and not going over.

So I booked the standard flight (without bike) and called them to add on the bike for the return journey. All grand so far.

Then when it came to adding on the cost of bringing the bike back, it was MORE (per flight) than doing this via the web (just like booking a flight over the phone is than via via the web).

So I disputed and told them that I could not select to bring only one-way via the web. The call centre person went to her manager and said this back to me:

"In fact you could have performed this via the web if you'd have booked 2 single flights"

Of which my natural reaction was 'don't be so stupid', to which tempers flared and resulted in me hanging up on them.

The call centre called me back 3 times in the next 2 mins, but I didn't answer it.

Now I don't normally expect much from Ryanair, but I don't appreciate a smart @ss answer with no logic behind it (2 single flights = 2 * more Credit Card charges)

Are they born eejits or what?! And is my flight safe from being canceled?!

Their customer service is appalling

How are we to know if you flights are "safe"? Go ring them. You hung up on them, they tried to ring you back, you didn't answer.

Sounds like the agent was trying to give you a solution to a rather uncommon problem, and you lost it.

Perhaps in this case it was the customer, rather than the service?
