    buy a haynes manual
    do a motorbike maintenance course
    use the correct tools
& get help from someone that knows what they are doing

http://xbr500.co.uk/ might be a good place to start

David Silers is a good place for honda spares http://www.davidsilvers.com/

    what they said...
But, I think totally stripping a bike is a bad idea. Specially if you know nothing about bikes.
Get the bike running. Do a bit at a time. Always have it that you dont have to do too much to get the bike running again.
For example, work on the engine first, get it working well mechanically. Next move on to all the other mechanical bits, get everything working. Then start to get the engine cleaned up well.
Move on to cleaning up the wheels etc.... And lastly get the tank and panels painted.
Otherwise you will end up with a pile of bits that you cant put back together like so many of these projects I have seen.
