    Hey All,

Okay, I have been reading a lot about the FTA dishes and reckon there will be no problem putting them up and all that lark, but I have a very basic question about them.

Does anyone who have these actually use them. I know the langsat site with the statinons you can get but I am looking for peoples experiences of them. BAsically:

Is there much English language TV Shows/movies that can be watched on them?
Is motorising the way to go?
Any website with the basics from start to finish on setting them up?

Thanks for your replies, and peoples actual experience with them is what I am interested in.

    Ta,
    MF

    It isn't for Dummies :)

    see the ICDGopedia.

Lots of people have motorised dishes. Between 20 & 30 satellites can be received in Ireland depending on dish size. 80cm minimum. Larger than 110cm needs a more specialised & expensive 36V actuator or motor.

English programming is mostly News etc. But there is other English programming. English Movies less common but I have seen some on 42E and NCTV on 15W frequently has English Movies (poor quality).

Lots of specialist interest. Arriang TV has lots of english. TV Polonia has Polish drama with english subtitles that IMO is better than Coronation St.

Some satellites (e.g. for Spain & Germany) have Free To Air material not possible on Irish or UK TV. If the receiver is used for Family viewing you need to delete some channels after a new scan.

Feeds of Sport & News can be found. You need to subscribe to email lists as these are shortlived or have a blind search Receiver. (The equivlent of Scanner Hobby). It's more a hobby that TV watching, sort of like Short Wave Listening, but without the hiss and crackles and added pictures :)
If DIY, then Motorised is only about an extra 100 Euro.
