Looking for advice on how i played this. Villain was winning a few uncontested pots with minimal raises and seemed to bet on most flops he was involved in. The only one that made it to showdown he called a raise on the flop, bet on the turn and checked on the river with Ace high to lose.

Usually id bet out on this flop but because i knew he was likely to bet (most likely with nothing) i checked. He made hes usual minimum raise and i called rather than check raising. I was pretty confident i was going to get another bet out of him on the turn so i check/raised thinking CRAI would force him to fold because i didnt think he had anything of great strentgh but when he raised me all-in i put him on Ace rag but i still taught i was ahead and called. I was until the river but theres no way i could fold this could i?

I suppose check-raising the flop would have been better but i wanted to give him a chance to hit a card to get more out of him, how badly did i play this or was i just unlucky

You got it all in with the best hand - exactly what you want, nothing much you can do. Fold A8 in the hand that crippled you though.

i think this is the critical part of the hand. If you knew he was going to bet then betting the flop was the best strategy (even if you didn't know!). If you lead here you will make more, more of the time. Leading for a near pot sized bet and hope for a reraise, then ship it. This puts a lot of thinking on him to call, with what is almost certainly a draw. If you check raise the flop you run the risk of him folding your CR and reduces the amount of chips you take!

The check/call was pretty bad. Get them in there when you are clearly ahead and put this guy under pressure/

As it turns out, he outdrew you in the end, but may not have had the chance otherwise.

What were the blinds, btw? (I hate online hand histories)

Blinds were 50/100, its in the first line of the hand history eg $100 BB

I usually use Jacques converter but it hasnt been working for the last week or two for some reason. This is a tribeca hand history application you download, there was a thread about this a while if you want to download it if you do a search

With the flush draw on the board I'd of led the flop for over 100.
The check-raise on the turn is a little too small for my liking also (since your intention was to get him to fold) though as it turned out you got it in with what was the best hand at the time.

With a flush draw on the board that you don't have I'd never try to give someone a free card.
