Got a quote off contractor to build our house. More than likely will be going with him. We got quoted for PVC front door, but thinking now we would like a hard wood one (Teak). uPVC are probably easier to mantain...no painting etc....but teak ones look nicer.....any thoughts???? Are they much more expensive?

IMO a whole door of plastic looks awful and your guests stand there looking at it unless you can get the awful thing open before they even get to the bell.

On the practical side , it is very easy to lightly sand and varnish a door every other year , provided its not got too much fussy detail , windows are more time consuming . If your door is north facing you wont suffer as much weather ( sun and rain ) and every 3/4 years will do .
